Join CARDEA and Dr. Nicholas Powers for an intimate conversation/salon talk delving deep into the complex intersection of Race and Psychedelics.
📅 ⏰ Date & Time: Friday, May 26, 6:30 - 8:30 PM
📍 Location: CARDEA Space • 511 Canal St, Suite 500
As the psychedelic discourse roars on at full speed, Dr. Powers challenges us to consider how substances like L*D, 'shrooms or molly can disrupt the enduring trauma loops faced by working-class communities of color. He delves beyond the medical model's ideas of 'Set and Setting', seeking a wider Container to make psychedelic healing accessible to marginalized populations.
A respected literature professor, novelist, and journalist, Dr. Powers brings a wealth of experience from facilitating workshops at venues like Occupy Wall Street, PEX, Burning Man, and the California Institute for Integral Studies. His writings have been featured in numerous publications, and he's frequently interviewed on topics surrounding psychedelics and race.
Dr. Powers is also celebrating the release of his latest book, "Thirst”, a political vampire novel.
