Have you ever felt let down by a birthday? It is more common than you’d think.

Birthdays can stir up more than joy. They can bring up reflection on where we think we ‘should be’ by now, comparison to others, or disappointment when the day doesn’t feel as special as we hoped.

It’s NORMAL to feel this way. This year, it’s okay to hold both truths: gratitude for the life you’ve built and space for the feelings that come up.

These 5 therapist-approved tips aren’t about perfection. Instead, they’re about giving your brain the structure and compassion it needs to thrive.

Between packed calendars, shifting routines, and competing priorities, it’s easy to feel scattered or behind.

That’s where executive functioning skills come in. Executive functioning is our brain’s tools for planning, focusing, and following through.

Which one do you want to try this week?

Save this post as a reminder for the days when everything feels like “too much.”

Journaling isn’t about writing something profound every time. Instead, it’s about creating a practice that actually works for you.

So many people save prompts but never use them because the process feels intimidating or “all or nothing.” The secret is in making tiny tweaks that lower the pressure and make writing feel more like discovery than homework.

These tips are designed to help you get past the blank page and into a reflection that actually sticks.

In addition, here are a few of our favorite non-traditional journaling tips ;)

Tip #1: Before you dive in, write one line about how you’re feeling or showing up in your life today (tired, restless, hopeful). This grounds your entry and helps you notice shifts after writing.

Tip #2: Instead of journaling for a neat 10 minutes, try 7 or 13. Your brain will resist less when it feels “low stakes” and unexpected.

Tip #3: Circle one word, underline a phrase, or jot down a next step. This turns free writing into insight you can carry with you.

Seasonal changes sometimes bring up big career questions.

Career shifts can evoke feelings of uncertainty, perfectionism, and a fear of failure. These feelings and questioning can sometimes spark self-doubt, leading us to stay in our comfort zone and play it safe.

Reframe: These feelings are a normal part of the process.

And, you don’t need to have every answer to move forward. Keep pushing forward and watch self-trust grow.

Small seasonal shifts can help ease the transition and restore a sense of balance.

Here are some ideas we’ve been discussing with our clients:

1. Anchor your mornings with one grounding ritual (stretching, journaling, appreciating a quiet coffee)

2. Adjust your bedtime in 15–20 minute increments to re-regulate sleep

3. Add nervous system “pauses” during the day (step away from screens, practice deep breathing, incorporate short walks)

4. Reintroduce movement in ways that feel good, not punishing

5. Protect time for one joy-filled activity each week as a way to carry lightness into fall

What’s one small shift you’re making this fall?

The transition from summer to fall can feel like pressure to perform.

But here’s the reframe: Fall isn’t about doing more. It’s about living *with more* intention.

How can you carry a piece of summer’s lightness into your fall routine?

If these feel familiar, it’s likely not just stress. It might be burnout. Which of these signs have you been brushing off?

Therapy can help you recognize the signs before you crash. Burnout isn’t just about being tired. It’s about being tapped out...emotionally, mentally, and physically.

And it’s not a personal failure. It’s a signal.

At Mirielle Therapy, we help women slow down, tune in, and build lives that don’t just look good, but also feel sustainable.

Perfectionism can feel like protection at first. But, in the long run, it becomes something that holds us back.

Perfectionism often shows up as a response to implicit or explicit workplace pressure.

But what starts as a way to stay “safe” at work can turn into a chronic sense of never being enough.

Signs of perfectionism at work:
→ Procrastinating because it’s never good enough
→ Avoiding new tasks unless you're certain you’ll excel
→ Over-preparing for every conversation or email
→ Not speaking up unless you have the “perfect” answer
→ Redoing tasks even when they’re “good enough”
→ Feeling crushed by constructive feedback
→ Over-functioning to avoid disappointing others

You don’t have to be perfect to be powerful.

If you’re struggling with perfectionism, our therapists are here to help. Therapy can help you shift from self-pressure to self-trust.

We are always talking about self-compassion at Mirielle Therapy. It is so important!

At first glance, self-compassion can seem like a silly or soft concept. But there is quite a bit of science behind it.

Research has found that self-compassion impacts activity in areas of the brain that are associated with Improved cognitive function and an increased ability to regulate emotions.

At work, self-compassion also:
→ Helps you bounce back from setbacks
→ Reduces anxiety and self-criticism
→ Makes you a better leader and teammate

What do you think...is self-compassion a power move?

Monday Mantra: “I am ready for anything this week brings my way.” 💗 Try a Monday morning body scan to take a moment for yourself before the hectic week and meetings begin. Here’s how:

✨Close your eyes or soften your gaze.

✨Bring awareness to your body. Wiggle your toes. Wiggle your fingers. Notice any tension in the body.

✨Now, focus on each part of the body, working from your toes up to your forehead.

✨Notice each part of your body. Your toes, calves, thighs, hips, abdomen, chest, shoulders, arms, hands, neck, jaw, and forehead.

✨Take deep breaths and allow each body part to relax as you work your way up.

✨With each breath, imagine softening and releasing any tension.

✨Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.

✨Finish by sending gratitude to each part of your body.

Right now, you don’t need to be anywhere else but here in this moment.

Sunday night dread is quite common. It’s your mind’s way of anticipating the pressure and stress ahead, and when you’ve had a fun weekend, that pressure can feel even heavier.

If the Sunday Scaries are creeping in, try these tips:

🔹 Name what’s bothering you. Brain dump your worries into a list you can revisit Monday morning. There is no need to solve it all tonight.

🔹 Plan a soft start. Give yourself something to look forward to on Monday morning (a solo coffee walk, a playlist you love, or a slower, meeting-free hour).

🔹 Prioritize rest. Get to bed early and support yourself with good sleep.

🔹 Plan a soft start. Give yourself something to look forward to on Monday morning (a solo coffee walk, a playlist you love, or a slower, meeting-free hour).

🔹 Choose one small thing to do this week that brings that “weekend” feeling into your weekdays.

We deserve to enjoy the weekend and the summer days, even when our to-do list feels never-ending.
