Moments like these are why community matters so much.
Seeing young pre-med students sit side by side with our residents—painting, sharing stories, and simply spending time together—was a beautiful reminder that activities can be quiet, human, and deeply meaningful.
As Riya Bhat, an NYU sophomore and psychology major on the pre-med track, shared:
“My mom is an artist who’s shown her artwork at facilities like this, and heard from directors about the change art makes in the residents. They’re more vocal, more engaged with their environment. It keeps them in the present, and we can hear about their life stories, life lessons, and wisdom.”
We’re grateful for partners who show up with open hearts and for residents who continue to inspire us every day.
