Lumbar Epidural Steroid Injections (ESIs) can be highly effective in managing and treating lower back and radiating leg pain. This type of injection can temporarily alleviate discomfort in the area extending from the lower spine to the hips and possibly even down the leg. The main goal of lumbar epidural steroid injections is to manage chronic pain caused by irritation and inflammation of the spinal nerve roots in your low back due to certain conditions or injuries. Epidural steroid injections are conducted in our in-house procedure suite, under the guidance of an advanced X-Ray machine called a Fluoroscope, to ensure precision.

Cervical epidural steroid injections relieve pain in the neck, shoulders, and arms caused by a pinched nerve (or nerves) in the cervical spine. Conditions such as herniated discs and spinal stenosis can compress nerves, causing inflammation and pain. The medication injected helps decrease the swelling of nerves. The main goal of cervical epidural steroid injections is to help manage chronic pain caused by irritation and inflammation of the spinal nerve roots in your neck (the cervical region of your spine) due to certain conditions or injuries.

Trigeminal nerves are responsible for sensations in your face and for helping you bite, chew and swallow. Blocking these nerves can help you stop feeling facial pain. Trigeminal nerve block is an injection of medicine that helps relieve facial pain. It's used to treat trigeminal neuralgia, herpes zoster infection (" or shingles) affecting the face, and other atypical facial pain syndromes. The doctor will insert a thin needle into the side of your face and inject anesthetic. Then, with x-ray guidance, he or she will insert a second needle and inject a steroid pain medication.

Cervical Facet Radiofrequency neurotomy is a treatment that involves the division or destruction of one or more medial branch nerves that carry the pain signals through the use of heat to relieve neuralgia, or nerve-related pain. This procedure is performed with local anesthetic. Using a type of X-ray called fluoroscopy, the physician will guide the needle into the cervical spine, where heat generated by radio waves can damage specific nerves. The procedure generally lasts anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the number of nerves the doctor will be targeting. The recovery period is usually short, typically just a few hours, with the patient being discharged the same day.

Intradiscal electrothermal therapy (IDET) is a minimally invasive surgical (MIS) procedure for the treatment of discogenic chronic low back pain. The technique involves applying heat to the annulus fibrosus through a catheter with a temperature-controlled thermal resistive heating coil. The goal of thermal disc treatment is to damage the nerve fibers, shrink collagen, and stiffen the disc tissue; this might seal any small tears and limit the expression of matrix components

Trigger points are focal areas of muscle spasm, often located in the upper back and shoulder areas. Trigger point injections can be used to treat a number of conditions including fibromyalgia, tension headache, and myofascial pain syndrome.
The injection may be an anesthetic such as lidocaine (Xylocaine) or bupivacaine (Marcaine), a mixture of anesthetics, or a corticosteroid (cortisone medication) alone or mixed with lidocaine

Electromyography (EMG) is a diagnostic procedure to assess the health of muscles and the nerve cells that control them (motor neurons). Results can reveal nerve dysfunction, muscle dysfunction or problems with nerve-to-muscle signal transmission.
During a needle EMG, a needle electrode inserted directly into a muscle records the electrical activity in that muscle. A nerve conduction study, another part of an EMG, uses electrode stickers applied to the skin (surface electrodes) to measure the speed and strength of signals traveling between two or more points.

Kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive surgery used to treat a spinal compression fracture. Spinal compression fractures occur primarily in spinal vertebrae that have been weakened by osteoporosis. This procedure restores original shape and configuration and relieves pain from spinal compression.
