It's an unfortunate truth that many pelvic health and chronic pain disorders are woefully underserved by the United States medical community at large, and bridging this divide is a massively important part of our mission at Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine. We have continually expanded our reach and increased our ability to help more and more patients, as what began with one New York City practice has now grown to 13 locations in 8 states across the country. We're proud of how far we've come already and excited for what the future holds. Visit our website to find the Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine location nearest to you!

Chronic pain is complicated, and an effective treatment plan to reduce flare-ups, improve muscle and joint function, and help you live a higher quality of life often requires a holistic, multidisciplinary approach. Diet is often a key component of this, and we have frequently found that a Mediterranean diet – high in lean proteins, seeds, nuts, healthy oils, fresh fruits, and vegetables and low in processed foods and refined sugar – can be critically helpful in achieving relief from chronic pelvic pain and inflammation.

Since refined sugars are often a root cause of inflammation and pain flare-ups, it's smart to have healthy options that you can reach for when you need a snack. Nuts and legumes like cashews, walnuts, and almonds are great sources of healthy fats, as well as magnesium, which is important to regular digestion and bowel movements. Got any personal favorite nuts to snack on? Tell us about it in the comments!

Did you know that essential oils have been shown to help facilitate higher quality sleep? Blending a couple drops of lavender or ylang ylang oil with olive oil and applying the mixture to the inside of your wrists, back of your neck, and soles of your feet might help you drift off faster and sleep more deeply through the night.
