Great study about how mothers are concerned about low milk production actually have it?
What strategies do they rate as most helpful?

This 2025 case-control study measured 24-hour milk production to distinguish perceived insufficient milk from actual insufficient milk.

All newborns lose some weight in the first 24 hours. If you received IV fluids during labor, your baby may lose even more, not because of feeding, but because the fluids make the birth weight look higher than it really is.

That’s why the 24-hour weight is the most accurate starting point for tracking growth.

Researchers in Canada found that using the 24-hour weight instead of the birth weight helped more babies stay exclusively breastfed in their first few days.

Let’s talk about a a
First make ensure your newborn is comfortable, not overstimulated, too cold or too hot!

Are you using cloth diapers! then it could be an uncomfortable cold and wet diaper on their skin.

While the cause of colic isn’t well understood, colic is a symptom of something happening in the baby. Usually, if the root can be found and addressed, the “colic” will reduce or go away completely.
Some Factors that contribute to colic:
* Digestive system that isn’t fully developed
* Tension and/or asymmetry in the body from intrauterine positioning or birth trauma
* Undiagnosed tongue tie causing tension throughout the body.
*Excessive air being swallowed during feeding.
*disruptions in the gut
* an Imbalance of healthy bacteria in the digestive tract
* Food allergies or sensitivities
* Overfeeding or underfeeding
* Need for more burping or positional changes/tummy time.

KEEP IN MIND:
Babies should not cry inconsolably for hours a day.

Babies are fussy, gassy creatures, especially for the first three months.

It can be difficult to distinguish typical crying from excessive crying.

In general,
“colic is defined as predictable periods of significant distress in an otherwise well-fed, healthy baby where the baby cries for 3+ hours a day, 3+ days a week, for 3+ weeks.”

Features of
may include the following:
⚪️Intense screaming or crying that seems like an expression of pain

Tension in the body; stiffened legs and/or arms, clenched fists, arched back, or tense abdomen
⚪️Predictable timing of fussiness, often in the evening
⚪️Crying for no apparent reason (hunger and dirty diapers have been ruled out)
⚪️Facial color changes, skin flushing or blushing

These five infant products are still quite easy to find online through third-party sellers on major e-commerce sites, in spite of numerous infant fatalities that have led to widespread recalls, warnings, and rule changes regarding infant products marketed for sleep.
Do learn more about just how widespread the problem is, and red flags and warning signs to watch for when you’re shopping online:

LACTATION COOKIES do not solve the problem of a low milk supply!
Eat a cookie because you want a cookie. 🍪

Here are the Common causes of low milk supply: eating a cookie does not fix any of these issues.
Thank You for this excellent accurate, evidence-based information.

Postpartum Doulas are knowledgeable and supportive. When the adjustments we can help with are not enough, we work with our local IBCLCs to address the root cause of our clients' low milk supply.

The common causes of low milk supply:
- not breastfeeding or pumping enough
- skipping night feeds or night pumps
- baby with oral
restrictions (tongue, lip, buccal)
- sleep training or eat, play sleep routines
- wrong fl**ge size
- poor quality breast pump
- PCOS
- thyroid disorders
- hormonal imbalances
- mineral and vitamin deficiencies
- retained placenta
- Sheehan syndrome
- breast surgery
(augmentation, reduction, lift)
- anemia + blood loss in labor
- insufficient glandular tissue (IGT)
- diabetes T1 and T2
- insulin resistance
- hormonal birth control
- nutrient deficiencies and extreme dieting
- history of infertility and/ or recurrent pregnancy loss
Working with a low milk supply specialized lactation consultant (and often, doing bloodwork based on symptoms) can be the best step to getting closer to answers.“

Let our doulas help you overnight. Learn how to dress your baby comfortably and safely at night
👶💤
As a general guide, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends dressing baby in no greater than one layer more than an adult would wear to be comfortable at the same temperature.

There are no recommendations for or against mittens, but they are unnecessary. Scratching is not a concern when nails are kept short.

Babies should not sleep with hats or hoods due to the risk of overheating or suffocation, with the exception of newborns in the hospital who cannot yet regulate their body temperature. Babies should be changed out of hooded clothing before sleep.

The clothing infographics in this article are only a basic guide for how to dress a baby for sleep. Some babies run warmer or colder than others.
