ACT of Courage Psychotherapy ACT of Courage is a group of Licensed Psychotherapists providing therapy for individuals and couples in the Greater New York City area.

We recognize that it takes a lot of courage to start the journey of learning about ourselves. Just like anything else, the first step can be the hardest. That's why we want you to know we are here by choice and honored to join you on this journey. We take price in providing our clients with a safe space to share and relax. OUR APPROACH
We believe that using evidence-based techniques in a compassionate, therapeutic relationship is the key to successful treatment. Our work is grounded in empathy and connection, while helping individuals gain insight
into their struggles. We will help you recognize the barriers that stand in the way of pursuing your values in life. You will learn how to implement new techniques and skills and, ultimately, how to be your own therapist. If you have any questions, or are considering psychotherapy,
please contact us to schedule a complimentary phone consultation.

How do you recognize a panic attack?

Use this checklist:

✔️Sudden rushes of overwhelming fear
✔️Physical sensations include heart palpitations, numbness, tingling, dizziness, depersonalization feeling, and others
✔️Fear of dying, fainting, or losing control
✔️Using “safety behaviors” to cope

Constantly fearing the recurrence of panic attacks can be emotionally draining and often
results in unhealthy avoidance behaviors. Cognitive-behavioral interventions, including
exposure exercises, breathing retraining, and relaxation techniques, can help us
overcome panic attacks.

Use these steps to postpone your worry:

✨Schedule a daily “worry-time” ~10 minutes
✨Notice when you worry and take notes.
✨Choose to postpone the worry.
✨Use scheduled “worry-time” if needed.

Setting aside a specific 'worry-time' helps you avoid engaging in worry at the moment when you catch yourself dwelling on concerns.
