Peersights Mental Illness Recovery Coaching

PEERSIGHTS SERIOUS MENTAL ILLNESS RECOVERY COACHING. We can help you or your loved one reach recovery from mental illness. In recent months, I’ve been helping families reach recovery together. I’ve helped a mother manage the challenges they face when a loved one refuses to accept a diagnosis. I’ve helped a mother help her daughter accept a diagnosis and treatment and her return to school. I helped another mother navigate through the challenges of her son’s hospitalization and his return to work. I’ve also helped several people living with mental illness by providing insights from my lived experience that supplement the psychiatric care and therapy they are receiving. I draw on 20 years of experience living with severe bipolar I disorder with major depression. I share perspectives and guidance based on my success reaching recovery and strong record of peer support, academic achievement, mental health writing for NAMI, and volunteer work sharing my lived experience with hospitalized psychiatric patients. I love helping everyone, but I am especially gratified to help those affected by serious mental illness. They often need the most help and are too often cast aside and forgotten by society. Founder, Katherine Ponte:

Katherine is an advocate, writer, and entrepreneur dedicated to promoting mental illness recovery and wellness. She is the founder of ForLikeMinds, Peersights, and Psych Ward Greeting Cards. She is based in New York City and the Catskills. Katherine was first diagnosed with major depressive disorder and then severe bipolar I disorder with psychosis over fifteen years ago while in graduate school. She is in recovery with the help of a strong support team of family, emotional support animals, friends, and a psychiatrist. A first-generation high school graduate, Katherine has a BA in political science from the University of Western Ontario, a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School of York University, and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She is a qualified Barrister & Solicitor and Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner. She has worked as a lawyer, foreign legal consultant, and entrepreneur in Toronto, São Paulo, and New York City. Katherine also serves on the Board of Directors for the National Alliance on Mental Illness of New York City, the largest affiliate of the leading mental health non-profit organization in the US. She built ForLikeMinds with invaluable support from her spouse, Izzy Gonçalves. It was inspired by their personal insights and seeks to help people like them in their own mental illness recovery journeys.
