COVID-19 Response:

Friends,

This is truly an unprecedented time we are in together. As a healthcare provider, and a citizen of the world, I feel it is of great importance to myself to be aware of information regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Out of an over abundance of caution (as the phrase has been coined) I will be temporarily closing my office practice starting tomorrow. I will take this in 2 week increments as we all learn more. Of course, I hope it ends up being shorter, but erring on the side of caution is what is best.

At present time, there is much we don’t know about this illness, but what we do know makes me confident this is the correct choice. The work I do is in close proximity with others and involves multiple patients coming in and out of the same room. While I have always maintained as sterile, well ventilated, sanitized and clean office I am simply not set up for infectious disease containment on this level. Nor would I ask anyone to travel to my office during this time.

While I feel the work I do is important, it is time for all of us to do a hard ego check and consider others inside as well as outside our immediate spheres of influence. I am following the lead of most other non-essential medical offices in this decision.

House calls MAY be an option moving forward, but as of now, this is wait and see.

This seemingly national, if not global shutdown will have major financial implications for many. With this in mind, I am offering complimentary or pay by donation/what you can herbal consultations. We can do this over the phone or facetime. Chinese Medicine excels at immune strengthening and even treatment of onset of symptoms as an adjunct in this case to your work with your medical doctor. We can also do corrective exercise instruction for those of you experiencing musculoskeletal pain. I will also happily send ear seeds in the mail along with instructions on where to place them. For those of you who have received ear acupuncture, ear seeds are way of providing stimulation to the points without the use of a needle.

Further, if the whole social distancing thing is starting to wear on you, if you’re afraid or even just need to chat I am here for you anytime: 718-640-8099. Because, let’s face it, being cooped up involuntarily is something we must all adjust to. We will weather this storm together... figuratively. Literally- social distance.

Please call, email, text, or DM if you have any questions or concerns.

Like the rest of us, I look forward to the time when we can either say we overreacted a whole lot, or that we’re glad we prepared and took action when necessary.

With warm Qi,

Mike
