Happy (HOT 🥵) Friday MVP! Thankfully it looks like the weekend will cool off a tad but let’s keep hydrated 💦and use sunscreen 🧴 & hats 🧢 when we’re out and about!

Let’s get to the 🩺 roundup for this week:

ℹ️ Lots and lots and lots of coxsackie (aka Hand Foot & Mouth) That’s pretty much all we are seeing. If you’re a new parent or new to MVP, be sure to check out our website/blog for info on what to expect with this common warm-weather virus.

ℹ️ Also—we’re seeing lots of Impetigo, a contagious skin infection caused by bacteria usually spread by sharing towels and clothing. We’re seeing this in kids coming home from camp. Give us a call if you’re seeing red sores normally around the nose and mouth (but can appear elsewhere)

‼️Important reminder: we’ve had lots of calls about ticks. If you’re out of city —beach 🏖️, mountains ⛰️, suburbs 🏡, around pets 🐶🐴 who are in and out, etc—get into the TWICe A DAY tick check —important to include behind the ears, groin, toes and other “hidden” areas. We also have a blog and post just about ticks so let us know if you need help ✅

We know we’re all waist deep in summer —some of us have all the plans and some of us are wondering what to do this afternoon!

Shout out to Dr. Hoffman for sharing a few of her favorites:

🏛️ has water-themed 💦activities on Wednesdays for the July and is Free on Fridays from 5-8PM

Don’t miss all the opportunities for cultural activities and street fairs with and their events page!

Dr. Hoffman is a fan of .restaurant in the spring & summer, sitting outside in Riverside Park featuring a large sand 🏖️ area for kids

And letterboxing! 💌📪 if you have school-aged kids this is a massive treasure hunt throughout the city.

➡️ After graduating with a masters in occupational therapy in 2006 from University of Toronto 🍁Tammy moved to NYC 🍎 and began her career. She has worked in a variety of settings, including schools, sensory gyms and homes. She also keeps her skills and knowledge up to date through continuing education courses. Working in these multiple settings has provided Tammy with a range of experiences that allows her to work effectively with a wide range of developmental challenges and a diverse population.

Tammy works with at risk babies and toddlers on the Upper East and West Side. She offers therapy both in homes and through rented space in a sensory gym as well. She works through early intervention and accepts private pay.

If you’ve had an appointment at MVP recently you have probably seen this cheerful new face 😊 taking your child’s vitals and getting you prepped for an appointment. Please help us “officially” welcome Kayla to the MVP family! 🩷🧡💛💙

Kayla began her healthcare career during the pandemic 😷 She’s also been a teacher and caregiver to NYC families for the last 10 years.

Kayla is currently working on her prerequisites classes 📚🩺⚕️🏥 to further pursue her career in healthcare. We wish her the best and are excited to have her on the team!

Fun fact: Kayla originally moved to the Big Apple 🍎 to be a professional dancer 💃🏻

Originally from Ohio, Dr. Hackett is happy to be practicing at ENT & Allergy’s Upper East Side and Bronx offices. A mom of two young boys, Dr. Hackett loves meeting other parents, listening to their stories, and working with them to ensure their children have the best opportunity to be healthy and thrive!

Dr. Hackett is dedicated to treating the full range of childhood ear, nose and throat disorders, including congenital head and neck masses, airway disorders, hearing loss, chronic nasal congestion, snoring and sleep apnea, and chronic infections of the ears, nose and throat.

Dr. Hackett is an active member of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology and is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.

She completed her Otolaryngology residency at followed by sub-specialty training in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Happy Friday MVP families! I hope you are warm and cozy for this yucky day. ☔️

We are busy with

🤧seasonal allergies,
🫁 asthma due to allergies,
🥴 strep and…some
🤮 stomach virus (whomp whomp)

Our advice—keep on taking those allergy meds people, the season is not over yet!

We’re already in May so come and get those 🏕️ 🩺 camp physicals!!!

Our special guest this week, Brendan O’Melveny, COO at Imagine Swimming will break down water safety —not just by pools, but also open water—plus his own tips as an avid swimmer and parent.

Brendan, the Chief Operating Officer at Imagine Swimming in New York City, has over 24 years of experience as a swim instructor, aquatics professional, and water safety advocate. In 2020 he founded the New York Water Safety Coalition, which promotes drowning prevention legislation across the state. He is regularly featured in local and national media and national Aquatics Industry conferences. Brendan is an avid triathlete 🏃‍♂️🚴🏊, open water swimmer, and the father of two young children.

Big week here at MVP! Before we get to the news—join us welcoming Dr. Hoffman back to the office AND Happy Birthday today! 🎂🥳

Thanks to everyone who came to the office last Friday to help us celebrate our 5th Anniversary! Special shout to Melina for organizing our vendors and in particular to for his amazing energy with the kiddos! THANK YOU to our families and vendors for their support these last five years. We love what we do! ☺️
