Does the principle of 'Winter diseases treated in summer' really make sense? / Manhattan ACA Acupuncture Clinic
Treating winter diseases in summer is a type of preventative treatment. Summer is also called the prolonged summer, which corresponds to the spleen and the Earth element in the human body's five organs and five elements, while winter corresponds to the kidney and the Water element. The five elements generate and overcome each other, with Earth overcoming Water, and the prolonged summer overcoming winter. Therefore, summer treatments can have a certain inhibitory effect on diseases that are prone to occur in winter.
According to traditional Chinese medicine theories such as "nourishing yang in spring and summer", "unity of man and nature", "treating diseases at the right time", and "treating the disease before it occurs", using the "dog days" when diseases have not yet occurred, through methods such as medication and topical applications, removing the necessary conditions for their occurrence (main causes or triggers) can regulate the functions of the body's organs and yang energy, enhancing the ability to resist diseases.
