Nothing ruins a fun summer’s day with your friends and family like a heat-related illness. But understanding the heat index and learning to identify symptoms can help protect your health—and make sure your day goes as planned.
Heat-related illnesses include heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. If you notice symptoms like muscle pain, dizziness, nausea, or fatigue, take immediate action. This may even include calling 911.
You can prevent heat-related illnesses by taking breaks from time in the sun, staying hydrated, and wearing protective clothing.
