A lipoma is a soft, rubbery lump of fatty tissue that forms just beneath the skin.
These growths are typically mobile, painless, and slow-growing, and are most commonly found on the back, arms, shoulders, and neck.
Most lipomas are benign and don’t require treatment. However, any new or changing lump should always be evaluated.
If a lipoma becomes bothersome, it can be safely removed in-office.
