Mental illness, poverty and homelessness are conditions, not crimes.

At today’s New York City Council hearing, CASES called for flexible, community-based funding that reflects the realities of people’s lives.

When we invest in care instead of punishment, the results speak for themselves. Our Nathaniel ACT program helps clients achieve:

94% no new felony convictions
70% reduction in homelessness
50% reduction in psychiatric hospitalizations

True public safety provides treatment, stability and opportunity.

Yesterday, CASES stood with advocates in Albany for Youth Justice Advocacy Day.

In New York, thousands of young people ages 18–25 are pushed into the adult criminal system every year with lifelong consequences that fall hardest on Black and Latine youth.

We’re fighting for the Youth Justice & Opportunities Act to expand alternatives to incarceration and seal records so young people can move forward with real opportunities to heal, grow and succeed.
