Hope everyone is having a great summer. For kids with anxiety or Selective Mutism the transition back to school can be difficult. Try these quick tips to make sure you get off to a good start.
1. Bring your child to the school before school begins. Bring a favorite toy or game and let them play in the school yard, the hallways and in the classroom if possible.
2. On a separate visit if possible, try to fade in your child's teacher while playing in the classroom.
3. Have as many playdates with kids that will be in your child's class before the school year starts as possible
4. Make sure your teachers and all those who will be working with your child are educated about SM and your child.
