Thoughts on this article?
I makes me sad to read something that starts off so angry since I know her message on access to care for all women will get lost. AND THAT'S AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE.
I also completely disagree that this new show giving birth in the wild is a natural extension of the natural birth culture. I think it's televisions way of getting extra ratings - either through the extreme of emergencies or the extreme of birthing next to a stream unassisted.
There's always a "I didn't plan on ... But then this happened" to these articles - so where is
Prenatal education going wrong and doula advocacy limiting itself to natural childbirth only? When all we want is more support for women of all plans - neither low nor high income women should have to go through this emotional event that happens to their own bodies alone.

"Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) is a severe form of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy. It is generally described as unrelenting, excessive pregnancy-related nausea and/or vomiting that prevents adequate intake of food and fluids. If severe and/or inadequately treated, it is typically associated with:
loss of greater than 5% of pre-pregnancy body weight (usually over 10%)
dehydration and production of ketones
nutritional deficiencies
metabolic imbalances
difficulty with daily activities"
