KFMT: Specialized Physical Therapy

KFMT: Specialized Physical Therapy Functional Manual Therapy to bring your body into balance. Less than 0.2% of Physical Therapists have met the rigorous qualifications to become Certified FMTs.

We are experts in Functional Manual Therapy (FMT):
FMT is a highly specialized, whole body Physical Therapy approach. It combines Manual Therapy with movement re-education and exercise to treat you as quickly and thoroughly as possible. What we treat:
We specialize in Whole-body treatment, which means we can provide expert care for almost any condition. Feel free to contact us if you have specific questions, or would like to setup a free consultation. How each session works
We will meet 1-on-1 for about 60 minutes. To begin, we want to hear everything you can tell us about your needs and injuries. We will then analyze your whole body, including movement and posture. Once we have formed an initial diagnosis, we will use hands-on techniques to manually retrain your muscles. We might teach you specific exercises, which will reinforce what we worked on during the session. You may be able to see results immediately. If needed, we will send you home with a self-treatment program. Feel free to ask us lots of questions during your session! The cost of each session is $290, and we will supply you with everything you need to claim Out-of-Network insurance benefits. Flex rates are available on a case-by-case basis. Please call us if you have questions about this.

What does a KFMT treatment session include? Every session is different, tailored to meet each patient’s specific needs, but all include:

🔵Subjective: we hear your updates
🔵Pretests: we look at and feel your body performing various motions to see what is limited
🔵Mobility Treatment: which can include treating soft tissue, joints, neural structures, viscera - we address the body parts that are painful, but we also assess and treat the entire body to make sure that we aren’t ignoring dysfunction of a body part that is contributing to the pain elsewhere
🔵Neuromuscular re-education: training your muscles to initiate, stabilize, and move with control and coordination
🔵Re-tests and post-tests: we use the same motions from the beginning of the session to see how your body is responding to treatment in the middle of the session and at the end
🔵Motor Control Training: practical education and practice on activities such as finding efficient posture, how to perform functional motions such as bending, lifting, squatting, standing up from sitting, etc.
🔵Review of Home Exercise Program: we give you exercises to help you maintain the gains made during the session and improve upon whatever movement components were lacking

Want to see if this approach will fit your body’s needs? Visit our website or give us a call to schedule your initial evaluation or a free 30-minute consult!

In the Functional Manual Therapy paradigm, efficient posture is a neutral stacking of the ribcage above the pelvis. This neutral stack allows the work of staying upright to be done by the stacking of the bones, so the muscles in the front and back of our spine don’t need to work so hard to keep us upright.

NOW HIRING! Front Desk Position at KFMT

KFMT Physical Therapy, Kinected and The Kane School are hiring a detail oriented, self-motivated, and experienced Front Desk receptionist to work.

Our desk is often busy, and we need someone who is friendly, organized, can multi-task and actively re-prioritize throughout their shift. We have a very small administrative team, and you would be working closely with management and owners, taking on a key public facing role.

Skills needed: excellent customer service and writing skills; basic math and excel/sheets/numbers (spreadsheet software) aptitude; proficiency with Mac operations systems and ease with multiple software systems; ability to take initiative and follow specific directions and processes, including following HIPAA regulations. Ideal candidate has experience in movement or fitness studio or medical setting. This position involves handling sensitive medical and financial information, and our ideal candidate has comfort with this level of responsibility. This position involves opening our studio in the morning, so punctuality is important.

Position requires multiple hours seated at a desk, ability to carry and lift objects weighing up to twenty pounds, and ability to look at a computer screen and type for multiple hours at a time.

Weekend and evening availability required. Preference shown for candidates with Weekend availability (9am-2pm). Currently looking specifically for Wednesday 2pm - 7pm, Friday 1- 6 pm, and Sunday 9am-2pm (May be able to switch to Saturday). There is limited flexibility with shift times, but some may be possible depending on your needs and availability

Minimum commitment: 1 year

Our PT's are continually learning and expanding their skill set, so we gather each week for mentorship to try new techniques. Last week, we worked on using the entire body to wind up and treat restrictions. This approach can create results at the target body part more quickly than focusing only on that body part with the patient on the table.

Maddie had a great time leading a workshop for kinected Pilates instructors about how to analyze gait to find inefficiencies in their clients' bodies. Our PT's use gait every day to assess our patients - it is an important clue that helps us treat the entire body as one system instead of just a collection of body parts.
