With this month being we highlight an article that investigates the relationship between relaxation techniques and stress. High blood pressure and heart disease are major health concerns worldwide, and while stress and anxiety can make these conditions worse this study proves that relaxation techniques can both benefit the body and mind. Progressive muscle relaxation and deep breathing can help lower blood pressure and reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.

However, there is a need for more high-quality research to determine the best techniques, including how often and for how long they should be practiced.
