10 years ago, I took a life-changing course that taught me how to make meditation a daily ritual ( eternal gratitude to ) 📿

Since then, my morning meditation session each day has given me a consistent space for peace and authenticity that has rippled out to deeply transform every area of my life for the better.

Now, it is with great joy that I am offering my own course to support you in building your daily meditation practice!

Over 4 weekly 1-hour sessions, we will dive into tools and guidance for both learning how to meditate, and for making this practice an essential part of your daily routine.

In each session, we’ll meditate together, explore different styles and benefits of meditation, and discuss overcoming obstacles to our meditative experience

There will also be space to answer your specific questions, where I can share wisdom and insights that I have gained from my experience as a clinical therapist, as well as over 25 years of experience as a yogi and student of Buddhism, to help you turn your goal of daily meditation as a ritual into reality.

The Yamas are the foundational principles of yoga

They are commitments you make to yourself regarding your own behavior

They are moral ethical guidelines for navigating the spiritual path

They all involve practicing some form of self-control or restraint. They are:

Ahimsa — non-violence

Satya — truthfulness

Asteya — non-stealing

Brahmacharmya — sexual responsibility

Aparigraha — non-attachment / non-possessiveness

The 5 Yamas compose the first of 8 aspects of the Ashtanga yoga philosophy (ashta = 8, anga = parts)

They also share many similarities with Buddha’s Eightfold Path to overcome suffering, which is believed to have been heavily inspired by the Yoga Sutras

The Empress represents the divine feminine aspect of our nature 🌼

She is the Great Mother, the one who realizes they hold the ability to create all things by magnetizing them through her alignment with the divine.

The third card in the major arcana, she’s ruled by Venus. She encompasses all things beautiful, creative, nurturing, and unconditionally loving.

3 is the number of the divine trinity, the holy other that is created through the synergy of 2 coming together with higher intention.

Venus is currently in retrograde, from 3/2 until 4/18. During this transit, it’s said that she journeys into the underworld only to be reborn through the love for herself within herself.

This story is told through the Sumerian myth of Venus’s counterpart Inanna, who is Queen of Heaven, as she voyages to meet her sister Ereshkigalsh, Queen the Underworld.

When Venus goes direct, Inanna returns from her journey with deeper, more expansive love to offer the world because it is rooted in unconditional self-love

This card affirms: “I do not chase, I attract”

Ancient yogis created a map of how energy flows and evolves into higher consciousness through the body - it’s called the chakra system

Chakras are energetic centers of awareness. There are 7 main chakras, located along our central energy channel (shashumna nadi) just in front of our spine, from tailbone to top of head

Each vibrates at a different frequency, which means each also radiates its own color & emotions. Each requires a new level of awareness. They are:

🔻 Root - survival, belonging, fear

🔸 Sacral - creativity, sexuality

⭐️ Solar Plexus - personal power, anger

💚 Heart - love, connection

🦋 Throat - communication, self-expression

🧿 3rd Eye - intuition, psychic abilities

🟣 Crown - spirit, connection to the divine

Together they compose the colors of the rainbow. Moving up the “scale,” the vibrations become lighter and lighter

The bottom 3 chakras vibrate at the level of matter, and the upper 3 vibrate at the level of spirit. The heart in the center is the gateway between, the portal between the realms

The evolution of both personal and collective consciousness follow this system

Collectively, we are currently moving from the 3rd chakra (or “density”) to the 4th chakra, which requires us each to rebalance our relationship with personal power

When our chakras are open and clear, energy can freely flow through us like a channel and evolution happens naturally

The Star is about learning to shine your light in the darkness 💫

# 17 in the major arcana, this card brings a message of self-care, self-love and filling your own cup until it overflows

In the tarot deck, it comes after the Tower, or the period in our journey where everything has been thrown into chaos in order to release what is not truly aligned with us

Ruled by Aquarius, this card speaks of renewal - a spiritual cleansing that brings hope. The difficulty is over and the fresh start for healing is here.

When we heal ourselves, we heal the collective. And becoming the Star is our reward for staying true to ourselves ⭐️

All of creation is composed of a combination of 3 universal energies, according to the Yoga Sutras.

These energies, or gunas in Sanskrit, create and govern light, motion and mass by taking the form of the elements and the senses. They are:

Rajas - creative energy (more fire & water – vision & taste)

Tamas - moderating / inhibiting energy, keeps rajas in check (more earth & water – taste & smell)

Sattva - harmonizing, integrative energy (more air & space – hearing & touch)

The Sutras tell us that the world is only a play of the gunas and that

*the purpose of the world is to provide us with an experience that leads to liberation*

We are also each made up of a unique constitution of the gunas, called our dosha. The science of Ayurveda dives deeper into how to use this wisdom to create optimum health
