FDNY Fired Up for a Cure

FDNY Fired Up for a Cure Come join us for a day of family fun all for a good cause. Food, rock climbing, bounce houses, face painting, water slide, potato sack races, and much more

Our medical and support services staff here at the Bureau of Health Services, as well as the entire FDNY, continue to recognize how much our community has been impacted by cancer and we are not prepared to give up. Since its inception last fall, the FIRED UP for a CURE committee felt that it was important to initiate a cause which would extend support to the entire fire department: active, retired and civilian whether or not their cancer diagnosis is related to the rescue and recovery efforts of 09/11/01. We are proud to announce that the FDNY will be hosting the 2nd annual FIRED UP FOR A CURE Family Picnic Fundraiser at Fort Totten on Saturday, June 09, 2018 from 11:00 am to 3:00 p.m. Rather than giving the funds raised to just one organization, we felt it was important to continue giving back to foundations that support our members when they need it the most. This year, we hope to have a bigger and better attendance in addition to raising funds for the cause, with proceeds split among the American Cancer Society (Relay for Life Hope Lodge), FDNY Family Transport Foundation, The Ray Pfeifer Foundation and FDNY Foundation. In order to continue our success, WE NEED YOUR HELP! Here’s how:

1. Help us fundraise and show our first responders, their families and friends that we will not give up until we find a cure for cancer.
2. Attend our free event with your family on June 09, 2018 from 11:00 –15:00. It will be a fun day of games, food and music for all. Support your loved ones and help us beat cancer. We appreciate every bit of your help to support this great cause.

Twenty four years ago, America came under attack. Thousands of lives were lost, and the nation was forever changed. In our collective guts, we knew we could pull through, together; and we did.

Since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, OUR commitment to "NEVER FORGET" remains deeply felt throughout the department. That promise is for all impacted by the attacks (our families, friends, and those battling illness) that we will forever remember, honor, support and dignify our heroes!
