Trust in public health is built on transparency and rigorous science.
At New York Academy of Medicine, we stand against the recent arbitrary decision by the CDC to change the pediatric vaccine schedule.
This move bypassed standard review processes, putting both health outcomes and confidence in clinical authority at risk, for the communities we serve.
As our President and CEO, Ann Kurth, PhD, states:
"By bypassing established evidence-based processes, including public comment and expert advisory review, the CDC’s unilateral revision of the childhood vaccine schedule represents a significant departure from best practices, with potential adverse effects on child health and public trust."
Dr. Regina Olasin, DO,FAAP,FACP, co-chair of the Pediatric section at New York Academy of Medicine adds, “Consistent with New York Academy of Medicine’s longstanding commitment to advance health for all, we support the American Academy of Pediatrics position and recommendations on childhood immunizations.”
Dr. Katie Keown, who serves as co-chair of the Pediatric section at New York Academy of Medicine alongside Dr. Olasin, states, “Pediatricians will continue to work tirelessly to promote the best health practices for all patients, including the recommendation of routine childhood immunizations that have thoroughly advanced this country’s health and wellness over decades.”
We invite you to stand with us for evidence-based health guidance. Please read our full statement below.
