Being a hyperbolic and dramatic person, there are many moments in my work when I have to qualify what I’m saying with, “this is not hyperbole.” So here it is. This is one of the most transformative Full Moons in memory. The Full Moon in Ta**us is exact at 5:19am PST. All lunations in the Ta**us/Scorpio polarity are about death and renewal. Scorpio brings change at the level of death and rebirth, while Ta**us represents life as a beautiful, loving experience. When we allow ourselves to die to the old self (Scorpio), the natural result is more love and grounded security (Ta**us).
The Scorpio mansion was once the true end of the year, when we prepared for the death of winter, where not everyone survived in the cold and dark. With the Sun in Scorpio, our conscious awareness is as comfortable with deep change as it can be. That’s a good thing because we are in a period of enormous transformation, and there’s not enough hyperbole in the world to match the instability of this moment on Earth. This Full Moon acts as psychic surgery, guiding us through the arc of this lunar cycle, which is, at its core, all about Venus. I’ll come back to that at the end.
First, let’s look at the instability we’re working through as Mars has just moved into the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius and is now in an exact Opposition with Uranus in the mutable air sign of Gemini. Mutable signs are fluid and adaptable, but combining fire and air can make those flames dangerously unpredictable. This is a volatile and disruptive energy that will bring sudden changes, conflicts, surprises, and fights for personal freedom.
We are finding our individual roles within the chaos. Allow your hunger for freedom to rise, and turn up your willingness to take risks. Mercury is Conjunct Mars in Sagittarius, which boosts curiosity and perspective. Stay in wonder about what’s coming next rather than sinking into fear and uncertainty. Mercury may be scattered in Sagittarius, but this is the mansion of truth, so lean into higher wisdom as you surrender to change.
If you’ve been following daily, you know we’ve been under the beautiful Grand Water Trine of manifestation and expansion (and plenty of tears and big feels) for the past week. Mercury and Mars leaving Scorpio break that Trine’s power, but Black Moon Lilith remains in a tight Trine with Jupiter and Saturn. This is shadow work at its finest, reminding us that to create the life of our dreams, we must leave no corner of the psyche unexplored. Our demons lose their power when they’re brought out of the basement and into the light. There is tremendous love and expansion in this lunar cycle, but none of it comes for free.
Mars is taking no prisoners. In Sagittarius, he forms a Sextile with Pluto, blending action and personal power. While Mars creates friction through sudden change, this harmonious link to Pluto gives us easy access to authority and depth. Trines to Saturn and Neptune from Mars also bring discipline, responsibility, and inspiration into the way we act during the peak of this cycle.
Pluto and Uranus form a perfect Trine, merging fast and slow change with ease. That may sound mild to my dramatic sensibilities, but it’s epic, and next year will be even more so. For now, our hot summer is behind us, and Uranus will return to Ta**us in just two days, calming some of the turbulence. The most unstable planet moving into the most stable sign should soften the edges of the times.
What we release in this lunar cycle flows directly into our collective and personal future. The Sun Trining the North Node makes it easier to sense where we’re headed. The Moon’s Sextile to the South Node invites us to release past patterns, especially those that keep us from loving freely. Let as much of that go as you can. With Black Moon Lilith in the mix, this is a call to stop blaming others when triggered. Put down the phone and don’t send that text. Look instead in the mirror and ask yourself what your part is. Let this become a way of life.
Now we reach the heart of it all quite literally, because this entire lunar cycle is ruled by Venus. Love is leading us, though the last two weeks may have been too bumpy to feel it. The New Moon in Libra took place at 28°, and Venus now sits at that same degree, replicating the Yod from that lunation. Yods are navigating geometries, and choices made now can shift your life’s direction. Small choices from the heart are met by the universe rising up to match your effort. The New Moon formed its Yod with Uranus in Gemini and Saturn and Neptune in Pisces. Two weeks later, the outer planets have barely moved, but Venus now occupies that 28° Libra point, creating another Yod with Venus at the apex.
This Venus ruled cycle inspires me to share with you the prayer I say every morning when it’s time to take my beloved Penelope around the block. “I remember that we are the vibration of pure love, and as we move into the world, we draw all loving experiences to us.” That’s the top of the wheel, where we automatically bring a higher vibration which indeed attracts like energy. But we also have to scrape down at the bottom of the wheel where the mud has our tires spinning uselessly. That’s our signal that something unconscious is keeping us from moving with more Grace, and that needs attention. Be willing to get a little dirty and messy when you clear away the mud and put something under the tire to generate traction, and get moving again. This little scenario is an analogy for the benefit of shadow work.
So let this Full Moon be the moment you remember both the mud and the light are part of the same road. Every bit of grit you clear makes room for more love to move through you. The wheel turns, and with Venus leading the way, each act of courage, forgiveness, or honesty becomes another push toward freedom and grace. Have at it!
