Did you know backward walking can help your toddler build balance faster? 👶🍼
When toddlers practice walking backward, it activates the glutes, core, and ankle stabilizers in a different way than forward walking. This helps strengthen postural control, weight shifting, and coordination, all essential for running, jumping, and climbing safely.
Backward walking also challenges the vestibular system (balance system) and improves proprioception (body awareness), which supports motor planning and smoother, more confident movement.
Short bursts (1–2 minutes) during playtime are enough to build strength and stability over time.
