House of Physical Therapy

House of Physical Therapy Boutique Physical Therapy 📍NYC. For people who use exercise as stress relief. House of Physical Therapy is a boutique medical office.

East Village | Williamsburg | Video NY & FL

Book by emailing Julie@HouseofPhysicalTherapy.com Our therapists - Dr. Jillian, Dr. Julia, Dr. Alberto, Dr. Jason, Dr. Shannon, & Dr. Megan - work with the ClassPass addicts, the ultra marathon runners, the weightlifters; people who are exercising 5 days a week without missing a meeting at work. In fact, a lot of our patients schedule PT like a meeting - we are always on time and keep our sessions within a hard 45 minute slot.

While Dawn takes the lead on these insurance processes, each one of our therapists spend time intentionally wording the documentation for your visits, writing additional letters, and calling for peer to peer reviews in order to make sure the most of your care possible will be covered by your insurance

How insurance works at House of PT:
• We are out of network with most plans
• We submit claims and accept assignment
• We accept worker’s comp & no fault
• We are not participating with Medicare
• We offer superbills for United Healthcare
If you do not have out of network benefits, our self pay rate is $165 per visit

Before scheduling anything, Julie verifies your benefits and calls you to review coverage at our office. Then, you receive this information by email to confirm you know exactly what to expect before making any appointments

When an insurance company denies treatment, we fight for you - the admin team + the clinical team together

Insurance can be overwhelming
We do our best to make it simple

We are not the Teledoc on the back of your insurance card ‼️ Story time 🎙️

Early on in offering virtual PT we had a new patient show up on Zoom at his desk in a busy office wearing a suit

Our fault for not properly setting expectations
His fault for not reading the note that said “use a laptop, dress in gym clothes, have a yoga mat close by”

In his defense, he used the Teledoc on the back of his insurance card often for sick visits and figured this would be similar

We are not chatting for 5-10’ at your desk about your problem, injury, or pain

We are going through a full movement analysis just like if you we in the office with us

The benefit of doing it at home is that we can see the environment you’re in and help you make real time modifications

Pain at your desk? Let’s see you sitting down to work

Pain while sleeping? Show us what pillows you’re using

Pain while doing the dishes? Bring us to the sink

Prepare to be on a laptop, in gym clothes, and ready to move through all the motions you have discomfort doing

If you’ve had a virtual PT visit, is this what it was like?
I wanna hear your experience in the comments!

Take this as your formal invitation 💌

Group coaching: Build your own strength training plan

Join 7 women who’ll be meeting online every other week after work to learn exactly how to create an exercise routine for each individual’s goals, one that you’ll know how to update and progress as you get stronger

Only $300 to join, less than (2) individual sessions in the clinic, and you’ll leave with a program to follow independently - and confidently! - at the gym or with weights at home

Dr Julia built this program to make information about how to exercise, how to fuel your body, and how to recover accessible to all women - a personal vendetta against overcomplicated contradictory social media noise

We start Tuesday 6/2 at 7:30pm

See you there,

When I signed the lease for 500 sq ft on 10th street in 2017, I pictured the perfect amount of space for a treatment table and some weights.

I never imagined expanding beyond treating my 20 patients each week. More than 1500 patients have come through our doors.

In 2018, Jillian approached me with frustrations of traditional settings and ideas of going out on her own. By the end of our walk we decided to pop another table next to mine a few hours a week…

Not long after, Dawn - my aunt - was upset about missing PTA events. I asked (read: begged) her to bring her 10+ years experience in retail over to PT and run our back office…

In 2023, I was introduced to Julia for what should have been a mentorship call. After 15’ of hearing her story, I decided not to recommend places to apply and offered her a position on the spot, without having an open table for her…

When Jillian was planning for family leave, we were anxious about finding someone with the same level experience to care for her patients. Alberto came in at the 11th hour bringing his > 10 years of experience to her patients and taking responsibility for our East Village home base…

At a family party, my cousin Julie approached me, “Can I ask you an uncomfortable question?” As any PT would, I replied “Don’t worry I’ve seen it all.” Turns out she wanted to transfer her managerial experience from corporate to our growing clinic. And I didn’t even have to treat her during the negotiations…

Jason was recruited by Julia. I interviewed him as a formality because I’d do pretty much anything Julia told me to. How lucky did we get discovering a social media star?! & the most reliable person…

Shannon came at an inconvenient time, weeks after Jason. It felt irresponsible not to make her an offer considering a friend from school called her “the best PT she’d ever worked with,” plus she brought to her interview…

Matching Megan’s personality, she showed up months in advance with a calculated plan, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. I learned later that she had intel about our practice from one of our vendors. She applied because of our team culture, and she has rounded us out beautifully…

Gotta love the confidence going in 👊

Had to leave the entire conversation on this one to show how serious they took this - grip style, hand placement, “I weigh exactly one plate on each side!” 😅

Do they get points for effort??🏆

Maybe counterintuitive at first… if you want to look toned, the place to start is the weight rack.

A lot of our patients choose classes because the workout is curated by an experienced instructor. You show up ready, they decide the sets & reps, demo the moves, and cue for corrections (and maybe indirectly promise the results they have!)

We love our fitness classes: pilates, barre, yoga, and all the HIIT style bootcamps, the unsexy truth is we need a solid foundation of boring old strength training.

That’s why Dr Julia created the 2 month coaching program to teach women exactly how to plan their workouts. Every detail.

Step by step how many sessions per week, how long to spend in the gym, what weights to choose, and how to adjust your sets & reps. During the biweekly hour long calls, she even covers fueling and recovery around your exercise routine. No more fasted cardio!

If any of this resonates, comment STRENGTH for the link with all the details! Next round starts after Memorial Day
