September is National Recovery Month.

In the lobby of our center, purple ribbons hang with messages and reflections from community members in honor of those they’ve lost or fear they may lose to a drug overdose.

Since we were founded in 1960, CCHP has been dedicated to carrying out cutting-edge research in substance use treatment.

Addiction Services at CCHP are integrated and structured to promote person-centered care and eliminate any barriers to treatment. Under the umbrella of Addiction Services are several tracks designed to meet the specialized needs of individuals seeking support through caring, integrated, and evidence-based approaches.

To learn more about our Addiction Services program, please visit: cchphealthcare.org/substanceusetreatment

🆓 At CCHP we also offer free Naloxone (Narcan) kits to help save lives. Naloxone can reverse opioid overdoses and give a second chance to those who need it most. 🙌

📍 Visit us at the Center to receive your own “blue bag,” which contains:
✔️ Two doses of Naloxone
✔️ A prescription card
✔️ An easy-to-follow guide 📖

In addition, if you or your organization would like an off-site training on using a Naloxone kit, please contact 📧 kwilks@cchphealthcare.org or reach us at 📞 (212) 360-7700 to learn more.

💔 Together, we can and create a safer community.

Mental health is often a stigmatized topic in the Latino community, and yet many are affected by mental health illnesses. September is National Su***de Awareness Month, a time to recognize that language barriers and ongoing difficulties accessing expensive healthcare can make it difficult for Hispanic community members to access the care they need.

September is also National Hispanic Heritage Month. At CCHP, we’re proud to serve so many members of the Hispanic community of East Harlem & greater New York. We’re excited to partner with the . With their support, we are now able to increase our behavioral health services to those most in need, like multiracial adolescents who experience the highest rates of major depressive disorder.

At CCHP, our Behavioral Health services include trauma-informed, compassionate care through individual and family counseling. Counselors provide caring and confidential services to help individuals and families cope with crises and changes, such as:

💙 The death of a loved one
💙 Divorce
💙 Substance use by a significant other
💙 Loss of employment
💙 Management of ongoing situations such as family conflicts and parenting stressors

Areas of focus also include mood, anxiety and co-occurring disorders, PTSD, issues related to self-esteem, stress and anger management, domestic violence, and depression.

Non-judgmental help is here for you and your loved ones.

Each September, National Su***de Awareness Month calls on us to recognize the disproportionate impact of mental illness on racial and ethnic minority communities.

Today, the mental health challenges facing these communities—particularly youth of color—are more urgent than ever. National data show that multiracial adolescents experience the highest rates of major depressive disorder (MDD), yet youth who are Latinx, Black, Asian, or multiracial are significantly less likely to receive the care they need.

September is also National Hispanic Heritage Month. At CCHP, we’re proud to serve so many members of the Hispanic community of East Harlem & greater New York. We’re excited to announce a new partnership with the . Overdose is preventable, and small steps save lives.

Here are ways to reduce risk:

*Test before you use: Fentanyl and xylazine test strips can detect hidden dangers

*Carry Naloxone: Let your friends or loved ones know where it is

*Avoid mixing opioids with alcohol or other depressants

*Store Naloxone properly (room temperature, not in extreme heat or cold) so it stays effective

*Call 911 immediately in a suspected overdose; emergency services are protected under Good Samaritan laws

At CCHP, we believe harm reduction is about meeting people where they are and keeping our community safe. Every safe choice brings us closer to saving lives.

Did you know?

East Harlem remains among the top four neighborhoods in NYC with the highest rate of overdose deaths and holds the highest rate in Manhattan. Nearly 1 in 4 overdose deaths occur in public spaces.

That’s why we say: “Heroes Carry Naloxone.” Being prepared with Naloxone can mean the difference between life and loss—in a park, a subway station, or right on your street.

Be a neighborhood hero. Carry Naloxone. Reach out to CCHP to learn how to get a free kit and training.
