Nurses are ready to bargain all day and night to try to avert a strike tomorrow.

However, if Mount Sinai, NewYork-Presbyterian, and Montefiore force nurses to go out on strike, join the nearly 15k nurses on the picket line tomorrow and help them win a great contract!

VICTORY! Last night, nurses at Northwell/Huntington and Northwell/Syosset Hospitals reached full tentative agreements with management, joining their NYSNA siblings at Northwell/Plainview Hospital in successfully averting a nurses strike on Long Island!

Nurses bargained late into the night to secure the safe staffing language, guaranteed healthcare, and respectful wages and benefits necessary to maintain safe, quality patient care on Long Island.

Congrats, Long Island nurses, on taking on New York's largest health system and settling the fair contracts that Long Island nurses and patients need!

Patient safety is always our number one concern. Nurses are patient advocates inside our hospitals and out on the streets.

It is irresponsible for hospitals to force nurses out on strike and to make inadequate contingency plans that rely on unlicensed nurses and other practitioners to care for our patients.

NewYork-Presbyterian, Montefiore and Mount Sinai are sitting on 1.6 billion dollars of cash reserves to hire replacement nurses. Their plan to roll back safe patient care standards to make it easier to cross a picket line is shameful.

It's time for these hospitals to give New York’s nurses a fair contract now! New York says clearly we don't want replacement nurses here, we want a fair contract now! – NYSNA President Nancy Hagans, RN, BSN, CCRN

When we fight, we win! Yesterday, NYSNA nurses at The Brooklyn Hospital Center and Wyckoff Heights Medical Center have reached full tentative agreements.

Latest tentative agreement highlights include:
✅ improve safe staffing
✅ fully fund health benefits
✅ protect nurses from workplace violence
✅ guarantee wage increases equitable with what nurses at the wealthy academic hospitals win

BronxCare nurses have also made major progress at the table! Nurses withdrew their strike notice based on tentative agreements reached on healthcare, nurse staffing and wages.

That leaves NYC’s wealthiest hospitals as the outliers who have refused to settle fair contracts. Jan. 12 strike plans and negotiations continue at Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai Morningside and West, Montefiore, and NewYork-Presbyterian.

Nurses don't want to strike but are ready to do whatever it takes to protect patient and nurse safety.

Nurses are showing up in force. 💪

Earlier today, NYSNA nurses from the wealthiest private sector hospitals held an emergency solidarity action outside the League of Voluntary Hospitals to demand that the city's richest hospitals protect patient and nurse safety. Several safety-net hospitals are stepping up and have agreed on tentative agreements. Now it’s time for the wealthiest hospitals to do the same.

If nurses don't reach an agreement by Jan. 12, see you on the picket line!

TODAY: NYSNA nurses at Northwell/Plainview Hospital reached a full tentative agreement! Nurses were successful in securing the enforceable safe staffing language and respectful wages and benefits necessary to ensure safe, quality patient care on Long Island!

While Plainview nurses are excited about their TA, they remain in solidarity with their NYSNA siblings in NYC and at Northwell/Huntington and Northwell/Syosset who are still fighting for fair contracts! If agreements aren't reached by Jan. 12, nearly 16,000 nurses in New York City and Long Island will go on strike.

First, Mount Sinai made nurses' health insurance out-of-network, now they're threatening to take away nurses' health benefits all together! Nurses show up for their patients and community day in and day out and put their health--and their lives--on the line. Mount Sinai nurses like Jaime are calling on management to do the right thing and settle a fair contract that protects patient AND nurse safety!

Union Strong!

NYSNA nurses are receiving widespread support from 45 labor unions, representing over 2.5M workers! Check out the latest open letter supporting union nurses saying, "We stand in solidarity with 20,000 NYSNA nurses in New York City private hospitals whose contracts expired on Dec. 31, 2025...Unions are ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with nurses on the picket lines, if a strike becomes necessary. It's time for hospital administrators to listen to your nurses and commit to fair contracts for our communities and working people without further delay."

Late last night, NYSNA nurses at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, Maimonides Medical Center, One Brooklyn Health Interfaith Medical Center and One Brooklyn Health Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center safety net hospitals reached full tentative agreements!

Highlights of the contracts include:
✅ Improve safe staffing ratios and enforcement to protect patient care.
✅ Secure good health benefits for nurses, and
✅ Protect nurses from workplace violence.

The safety net hospitals agreed that they will guarantee wage increases equitable with what nurses at the wealthy academic hospitals win. If the safety net hospitals in New York City can make this commitment, there’s no reason the big hospitals cannot afford to settle a fair contract now to avert a strike.

Jan. 12 strike plans continue for Montefiore, Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai Morningside and West, NewYork-Presbyterian and BronxCare in NYC and Northwell/ Huntington, Plainview and Syosset Hospitals on Long Island.

Long Island nurses are doing everything in their power to settle a ! Last night, more than 200 nurses from Northwell/Huntington, Northwell/Plainview, and Northwell/Syosset Hospitals packed the room during a late night bargaining session to show management their strength and how serious nurses are about settling a fair contract that defends quality patient care.

But Northwell management continues to stonewall nurses and walked away from the table without any meaningful movement on enforceable safe staffing ratios and guaranteed healthcare benefits for nurses. Instead of agreeing to safe staffing standards that would protect safe patient care, Northwell is doubling down on its union busting tactics to intimidate nurses.

Northwell Health, enough is enough! It's time to take accountability and listen to your nurses. Stop prioritizing profits over quality patient care, and settle the fair contract that Long Island nurses and patients deserve!
