Laser tattoo removal requires knowledgeable and trustworthy care, and multiple lasers. At New York Laser & Skin Care, Dr. Kauvar uses the most advanced laser technology to remove complex, multicolored, or multi-layered tattoos. Picosecond lasers such as the Picoway are the SAFEST and MOST EFFECTIVE way to remove the majority of tattoos without causing scarring or changes to natural skin pigmentation. Multiple lasers are required to treat a multicolored tattoo. Red light treats green and blue tattoo ink; green light lasers treat red, orange, and yellow tattoo ink; infrared lasers treat black tattoo inks. Recognizing ink pigments that are at risk for darkening with laser tattoo removal and treating skin of color requires knowledge, experience, and expertise. When conventional lasers cannot be used, other expert approaches can be employed by using fractional and resurfacing lasers.
