A lot of patients would like to know if it’s better to have an upper eyelid blepharoplasty or neuromodulator a.k.a. Botox, Dysport, Xeomin performed first.

I like to do the upper eyelid blepharoplasty first in case there’s any change to the eyebrow position. The eyebrows could get higher or lower and this could impact how much skin needs to be removed.

It is best to wait until after the surgery to have neuromodulator performed.

Today was a great OR day. The first case was a lower eyelid blepharoplasty with fat transposition. The second case was a brow recontour with upper blepharoplasty, mullerectomy ptosis repair, lower blepharoplasty with fat transposition, fat grafting, and TCA peel. Stay tuned…

This is a photo of a six week postop healing hairline incision of a woman who underwent a brow reset procedure, also called a brow recontour.

This is different from a traditional Brow Lift where the emphasis is on reshaping and recontouring the arch and the tail of the eyebrow. This can enhance the look of health and well being. This brow reset procedure can also improve lateral hooding that cannot fully be treated with eyelid surgery alone.

Notice that the incision hides very nicely and is covered by hair. She is extremely happy with her results.

Male Blepharoplasty Surgery (eyelid lift) has been getting a lot of attention in the media. Some high profile men are starting to look less masculine after their surgery. Most likely there was aggressive fat and maybe muscle removal exposing the top of the eyelid platform which is typically a feminine trait. It is really important to look at a surgeon’s before and after pictures to make sure that expectations align before proceeding with surgery.

This beautiful woman had upper and lower blepharoplasty with fat transposition 2 1/2 years ago. She still continues to be extremely happy with her natural results. She does not look pulled or done. Just her, but refined.

This is a follow up of a man in his 80s who underwent upper and lower blepharoplasty with fat transposition of the lower lids. He is very active and vibrant he wanted his insides and his outsides to match.

His six month follow up shows a very natural result which looks like he went on vacation. He does not look “done” or pulled or hollow. There is still a little tiny bit of swelling which will continue to resolve as time goes on. There is a lighting difference because the patient sent me a selfie and this was not taken in the office.

Many of you are probably wondering what an upper blepharoplasty incision looks like when it’s healed. This patient had surgery six weeks ago and the incision on her upper eyelid is barely detectable. She is an excellent healer and results can between patients.
