Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone

Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone The Perlmutter Cancer Center is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

At NYU Langone’s Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center, our doctors are leaders in diagnosing and treating people with all types of cancer. Still, we hope for a time when we never have to make another cancer diagnosis, so we also research what causes cancer in hopes of someday eliminating the disease. This approach means that you get expert

medical care and the most innovative treatment approaches, as well as access to clinical trials. We understand that living with cancer is more than just a physical challenge and that it affects your family, too. That’s why we offer individual and group support, as well as integrative health services, to help you and your family cope with the emotional and physical challenges that may accompany your diagnosis. In addition to our flagship Manhattan location, Perlmutter Cancer Center has numerous sites throughout New York City and Long Island. Services vary by location but may include infusion treatment, radiation therapy, doctor’s offices, imaging, and our integrative health program. Perlmutter Cancer Center can also offer you access to physicians who are experts in all areas of medicine. From diabetes to back pain, we can help you find an NYU Langone doctor who specializes in any of your other medical needs.

Your gut microbiome may hold the answer to one of oncology’s hardest questions.

Researchers at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone found that gut bacteria can predict melanoma recurrence with up to 94 percent accuracy when patients are matched by their microbial fingerprint. A simple stool test before treatment could one day help forecast risk and guide patient monitoring.

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Lisa G. Roth as director of the Division of Pediatric Hematology–Oncology at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital and Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone.

A nationally recognized pediatric oncologist and physician-scientist, Dr. Roth specializes in treating lymphomas in children, adolescents, and young adults. Her research focuses on how these cancers develop at the molecular level to advance more targeted therapies, and she has led national clinical trials to improve outcomes.

In her new role, Dr. Roth will oversee clinical care, research, and education while expanding access to advanced therapies and clinical trials. She will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care for children and their families.

“My own experience as a cancer patient reinforced how important it is to care for the whole person, not just the disease,” says Dr. Roth, who earned her medical degree at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. “I’m honored to return to NYU Langone and be part of a team committed to advancing research while providing compassionate care and support.”
