September is childhood cancer awareness month🎗️In October of 2002, 8 year old Kiona was diagnosed with two different forms of brain tumors. The germinoma was cancerous and the teratoma was benign and actually found to be the remenants of an embryonic twin in her brain. Kiona began aggressive treatments after her first brain surgery which was just days after her diagnosis. After being on treatment for 2 years and 9 months, Kiona underwent a second brain surgery. By this time she had undergone these intense treatments, and her body was growing weak from toxic and outdated treatments. During her second brain surgery, the surgeon was able to thankfully get out her entire tumor, but tragically, Kiona never woke up from the surgery. She was in a coma for 7 months before she gained her wings. Her 3 year fight ended just days before she would have turned 12 years old. 💔 She is big sister to baby Carly who also gained her wings due to cancer 💔
