Unfortunately, the most popular types of acne scar treatments discussed in the media and other marketing platforms do not include the most effective treatment of them all—subcision. I love performing surgical scar revisions because it is a one step solution that improves all aspects of an unsightly scar. This is a patient of mine who had a mole surgically removed at a plastic surgeon’s office but was unhappy with the aesthetic outcome. I performed a surgical scar revision, and the scar is now barely perceptible at 4 months after surgery. While I also perform many noninvasive scar treatments, surgical scar revision remains my most powerful tool when dealing with specific scars that in my experience will not improve as significantly with other modalities.
