Another job opportunity for residency grads in NYC:

We are looking for an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician in NYC who is excited about redesigning primary care. The model is working with employers and their employees — allowing for more time with patients, a tech-enabled patient experience, and value-based clinical decision making. The role is primarily clinical with leadership opportunities as well. We are looking for someone with strong clinical acumen and an empathic bedside manner that is 1-2 years out of residency. The compensation/ benefits are pretty attractive. Start date would be Jan 2021.

We're a venture capital- backed startup led by two Internal Medicine physicians and a serial entrepreneur who has started several tech and healthcare companies. If interested, please contact komal@reside.health

Kudos to our residency grad and faculty Erin Ferenchick for highlighting the importance of family medicine in global health

When Erin Ferenchick, M.D., realized she needed more skills to make a difference in global health, she went back to school to become a family physician. Music has the power to change our emotions, our mood and even our thoughts, but can music actually alter our health? Plantation family physician Venis Wilder thinks so, and her newly released music video Batter Up is putting her theory to the test.

Just checking in with all of our CFCM alumni and friends. We hope you are all well. How have your practices been affected by COVID 19?
The residency program has cancelled usual rotations and all residents are working either at the Allen Hospital, ED, or seeing patients by phone/video. Resident lectures are by zoom and we are all becoming more expert at that. Everyone has pulled together in an amazing way to help each other and take care of our patients! There have been a lot of changes and we are expecting more, but so far everyone is safe.
If you have any messages for our hard-working residents on this Doctor's Day, please post and I'll pass them along to anyone not on the page.

First year resident Sarah Phillips was Resident of the Month for the NY Presbyterian/Columbia campus. Here is her nomination statement:

Below is a comment from one of the nursing staff at the Allen Hospital. Although she is in her first year of residency, Sarah already stands out for her professionalism and collaborative attitude. Faculty have described her as “positive, kind, respectful, warm, and patient-oriented.”
“I appreciate very much the patience, and the care that you showed during my shift where I took care of my first ‘comfort care’ patient. As a novice nurse, we power through being overwhelmed and nervous head on because we have to focus on addressing patient needs, being safe, being efficient, etc. Dr. Sarah Phillips and Dr. Himabindu Kattamuri Ekanadham (Family Medicine faculty member) took time to personally see me at the nurses station to answer any question or concern if I had any. That was an assurance other nurses only dream of in other facilities. I know that I’m working with awesome human beings! Extending your patience receiving a million texts from me . . ., this is why it’s awesome to be a part of one of the best hospitals in the nation! You’re one of the reasons why amazing things happen here at NYP! Thank you.”
