This week some students from PS 48 came to visit us at St.Francis Animal Hospital! Mrs.Cardinali and Ms.Grillo brought their Community Service group to see us and make a donation for the animals. We all had a great morning! The group told us about what they do and the contributions they have made to the community and the projects they have lined up for the future. And the girls got to hear from Dr.Brigande and ask questions about what it's like to become a Vet and some of the things that he does. Our Practice Manager Christine discussed some pet care related topics with the students and even showed them some very cool x-rays! Our office works closely with NYC Teens for Animals, a local rescue for cats and kittens. The group hand made blankets and presented them to Sophie, the founder of the rescue at our office. As a treat for the students, Sophie brought a little friend named "Kevin" to meet the girls and have a little play time! "Kevin" is one of the kitties available for adoption through the rescue. As another treat for the group, we had "Malfoy" and his handler/owner Anne Marie come to visit. "Malfoy" is a service dog assigned to Ann Marie from an organization called Canine Companions. Ann Marie spoke to the girls and told them all the ways that "Malfoy" helps her with her every day life and showed them some of the commands that he knows. Then they got to spend some "cuddle time" with him and ask lots of questions. To wrap up our visit we had some refreshments and each student got a goody bag. We hope the girls had as good of a time as we did, and learned a few things too. And if anyone is interested in adopting or fostering, NYC Teens for Animals is having an adoption event on Sunday March 15th at My Natural Pet in Bay Ridge. Below you can enjoy some pictures from our fun day!
