New York Chapter of the Aging Life Care Association

New York Chapter of the Aging Life Care Association Aging Life Care™ management is a holistic, client-centered approach to caring for older adults.

Aging Life Care Experts are professionals who can assess older adults and develop a care plan that will determine the need for in-home care, relocation and additional medical care. Aging Life Care Experts coordinate a variety of care related services and can be the eyes and ears for family members who live far away. They are also there for those family members who live nearby, but are too busy to

handle the daily details of the older person’s life. Aging Life Care Experts provide the answers and the solutions to busy family members who know help is needed but don’t know what to do.

The NYALCA DEI Committee had an inspiring day at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Work in Manhattan, introducing Black and Brown graduate social work students to aging life care as a career. It was a fantastic opportunity to highlight the growing need for diverse social workers in this field and to share insights on how they can apply their skills to support older adults, disabled adults and families.

Janet Smith LCSW-R, ACSW,C-ASWCM the event organizer and Fordham alum, Melissa McHam Green LMSW, Abbe Udochi CSA and Melissa Sheehan in a meaningful conversation with students eager to explore their career paths. Their enthusiasm and thoughtful questions reinforced just how vital their perspectives and experiences are to the future of eldercare.

A special thank you to Melissa Fiore Lippiello Associate Director for Academic Affairs and Director of Continuing Education, for her support and coordination at Fordham’s Graduate School of Social Work.

It was a privilege to engage with the next generation of social workers who will help shape a more diverse aging life care industry. Looking forward to continuing this important work!
