Medical experts have lowered the recommended starting age for colorectal cancer screenings from 50 to 45 in response to rising colon cancer rates. However, according to the American Cancer Society data, only about 20% of 445- to 49-year-olds get screened on schedule. Talk to your doctor to see if it’s time for you to schedule this important test.

Americare's Kashmira Hillard was honored today as Aide of the Year by RiverSpring Health Plans! She was selected by nurse case manager Mariya Nikitina in recognition of her outstanding commitment to her patients.

Kashmira has the patience and ability to ensure that a patient’s happiness is always well taken care of. In her recognition speech, Mariya noted that the bond Kashmira has forged with her patients – that at least one will only go to the doctor if her aide accompanies her, and trusts her like a family member.

Today is World Asthma Day, which aims to raise awareness about this long-term disease that causes inflammation and swelling of the airways. Asthma is treatable.
