💎 Consistency is NOT perfection.

📈 It’s about behaving in predictable and stable ways throughout a period of time across different situations.

🔎 This client was a bit down during a recent check in until we pointed out she had been the definition of consistent.

✅ Throughout the last few weeks, no matter what she checked and did agreed exercises once a week (usually at the end of the week). In addition she has never missed an appointment and has continued to show up to work and help others despite her own symptoms.

❤️ That is consistency.

🏆 I couldn’t be more proud of her efforts and in fact we learned that asking her to perform things at the end of the week was much better. That performing exercises with her clients would also be a great way to save time WHILE she continued to help others.

🦶🏻 The Case of the Beautiful Foot!

💪🏼 This client has been training with us for a few months now and has gotten stronger, more confident in the gym, and is even taking 10,000 steps a day!

🤔 However she came in the other day saying her callouses were hurting and was delaying going to the podiatrist because all he would do is cut them off and offer no other solutions.

🎯 We came up with a solution in 5 seconds - we have to use your whole foot! Even your toes! As we load, walk, squat, etc but here’s the good news…

✅ I know she’s going to be successful because she’s ALREADY adapted to progressive overload…both in her programming and on her foot.

🚶🏻‍♂️So we revisited and tweaked a few ideas and gave her some fresh things to work on and we will keep monitoring how she’s doing in the coming months.

🕺🏻The biggest key: Prolonged under-loading is going to lead us to the same place as reckless overloading. If you need help with your plan or rehab drop a “🦶🏻” below!

🎯Pelvic pain isn’t “just part of being a woman.” And it’s not automatically a “weak pelvic floor” that needs endless Kegels. 👇

✅ Your pelvic floor is part of a pressure system (ribs + breath + spine + pelvis)
✅ If you’re constantly bracing or gripping due to stress or pain, your pelvic floor may be over-pressurized, not “lazy”
✅ Pelvic pain can show up as: pain with s*x, pain after s*x, painful or***ms, deep hip/glute pain, low back pain, pressure/heaviness, and leakage!

🎢 Depression and Anxiety are normal feelings when it comes to pain - but here’s the good news: We’re not imagining it, and we’re not “broken” for feeling it.

📋 This article shows how pain affects us in three ways:

🧠 1. Pain grabs your attention! It is designed to act like an alarm. We can’t ignore it, even when we try - but we can control our response to it!

⚙️ 2. Pain interferes with daily life! Over time, pain can change what we do, how much we move, and how confident we feel. This too is an adaptation of the nervous system as it learns to protect us.

💛 3. Pain can affect your identity! It is normal for pain to affect energy, hobbies, roles, or goals - which is why treatment needs to focus on who you are trying to be, and make the most of who you are!

✨ So here’s more good news:
We can retrain how our brain and body respond to pain by building skills like attention training/mindfulness, incorporating graded activity, and learning principles through acceptance and commitment.

🏆 This is the goal I have for every client!

🎯 Am I successful all the time? No way! Pain is complicated, humans even more so!

👨🏻‍🍳 I wish there was a secret formula I could share, but the closest ingredients that most often lead to success are listening, caring, educating, and empowering.

❤️‍🩹 The longer you work with people in persistent pain the more you will experience ups and downs with them - but for several clients the last couple of weeks hearing them talk about their flares as “inconveniences”, “small setbacks”, and look towards the future knowing that they are “confident I’ll get back on track” - all while continuing to workout and do things they love is truly the biggest gift I get from what I do.

❌ The biggest reasons most people stay stuck in pain is losing hope, having a poor view of their bodies or pain, avoiding things that hurt, withdrawing from society and relationships - and there is no amount of squats, stretches or hands on treatment that’s going to solve that.
