As part of my well documented attemtps to re-define Chiari based on physiology rather than radiology, herniation of the brain from CSF leaks have frequently emerged during evaluations in a crucial subset of patients. You might not actually have Chiari, but simply need a world-class team to suspect, identify and fix these insidious leaks causing your brain to sag. I'm proud of my partners Gayle Salama, Ibrahim Hussain and Jared Knopman who have helped us form one of the preeminent CSF leak centers in the world at Weill Cornell Medicine. Our team gave an invited overview on a spine-focused podcast, shared with you here today! Several of my patient discussed throughout and a brief cameo at 40 minutes....Please share widely, this isn't talked about enough and is missed frequently!

Academic year wrap up and kick off after my first full year as program director for the neurosurgery training program at Weill Cornell-NYPH/MSKCC. Amazing graduates (Gary, Maricruz and Rafael), amazing guest speaker and photo-bomber, Alfredo Quinones, MD, amazing celebration after graduation, and amazing new interns (Ruth and Albert). I'm lucky to be part of such a rich tradition as former graduate myself!

Wishing you and your families a healthy, safe and fun holiday weekend! Let’s see if anyone beats NYC fireworks….😜🤣🥰
