To celebrate and start 2025 🎉 on the right foot, here are 5 winter skincare tips to help you get through the crazy weather changes these next few months 🥶

Note: Some conditions, like rosacea, eczema and psoriasis, can flare up from dry skin and with changes in weather. See an expert dermatologist (like Dr. Safai) if you have any concerns.

Here are 5 Winter Skincare Tips:
🧴1. Use ointments and thick balm and creams over lotion to help your skin retain its moisture.
🥶2. For some individuals, the dry air and cold weather can irritate their skin and cause flare ups. Take extra care of your skin by using fragrance-free, gentle products and cleansers specifically made for sensitive skin.
🧣 3. If you have to go outside, and especially if it's windy, apply vaseline, Aquaphor or a petroleum-based ointment to any skin that's going to be exposed before leaving the house.
❄️ 4. Check your humidity levels at home! (Comfortable indoor humidity level is somewhere between 30%-50%.) If it falls under 30%, the dry air can irritate and affect your skin. (This is why some people get itchy and flaky skin.)
💧 5. Last but not least, make sure you drink enough water!

This is a patient who came into our office after a sudden acne breakout. Her face was covered with pimples that were itchy and nothing she did seemed to help.
