This 6-hour continuing education course (certified by NCBTMB and NYS) focuses on Thai massage techniques that massage therapists need and enjoy receiving themselves.

This comprehensive training is designed for therapists who want to stand out, whether they aim to enhance the therapeutic value for their clients or wish to exchange treatments with skilled colleagues who offer a variety of massage options.
The course includes two weekly lessons where students partner with a classmate to decide who will be the giver and who will be the receiver. After reviewing the receiver's health history, the remaining time is equally divided between giving and receiving. This approach ensures that each participant receives treatment from an experienced therapist who demonstrates techniques on another student.
Each unit functions independently as a set of specialized treatments designed for individuals who use their hands extensively. We aim for this course to benefit all students, even those who have previously attended the same unit, as our protocols are continually evolving. Students are likely to partner with different therapists each time, enhancing their learning experience.

Prerequisite: This course is available only to licensed massage therapists. Tuition is $112.50 for each 3-hour period.

Check out our event on Tuesday, Jul 29, 2025.

Thai Massage Dojo I & II

Dojo (道場 dōjō) is a Japanese term that means “place of the way.”

Thai Massage Dojo Part I, 20 hrs, and Part II, 20 hrs, is a series of classes that provide ample time to cover all the moves introduced in the Thai massage handbooks.
NCBTMB / NYS-certified
The instructor guides all of the practice time on one student while you practice on each other in tandem. It’s not just a long demonstration where students struggle to remember what to do afterward.
There is no level I or level II concept in our program. We do it like the old one-room schoolhouse, where students at ALL levels study together.
Each month, we examine a specific aspect of a traditional Thai massage protocol in detail.
You may choose from Supine, side-lying, and seated—in Dojo I and then continue with the Dojo II series, where you can explore Prone, Inverted, additional Seated, Side-lying, and Supine approaches.
Monthly classes encompass both theoretical lessons and discussion topics, covering areas such as mindset, intention, time management, and other relevant topics. We also explore Thai culture and the rich history of Thai massage. The demonstrations feature detailed explanations and provide ample time for thorough practice of each technique. Additionally, students have opportunities to experience the techniques firsthand when it's their partner's turn to practice. Time is also set aside for feedback before moving on to the next topic.
Each lesson offers a complete package: History, Theory, and Practice. Participants will learn both to receive and give massages. They are encouraged to attend one, two, or any number of lessons for $150 each, gaining new skills to enhance their ongoing practice, regardless of their primary modality. Students must complete all lessons in any order to earn 20 CE certificates for Dojo I and Dojo II. We frequently offer 4-hour review sessions that can be used in place of any of the missing units you are interested in.

Targeted Group Learning

We occasionally organize small-group learning experiences for individuals who are passionate about Thai massage. There is a new event on the calendar at the moment.

The Neck and Shoulder Massage Clinic is an affordable workshop specifically designed for professional therapists seeking to enhance their expertise in addressing prevalent issues, such as tech neck, headache, and shoulder tension. In this hands-on training experience, participants will explore a range of Thai massage techniques designed to alleviate discomfort commonly associated with prolonged screen time and poor posture.

Throughout the workshop, therapists will explore and practice methods, including myofascial release, trigger point therapy, Joint mobilization, and deep tissue approaches, each targeted at reducing tension, increasing circulation, and promoting relaxation in tight tissues. Under the guidance of instructors, participants will have the opportunity to refine their techniques, perfect their skills, and gain insights into the anatomy and physiology behind these everyday ailments.

This class is designed for licensed massage therapists seeking to refine their skills and enhance the quality of care they deliver to their clients. Our presentation strikes a balance between theoretical insights and practical applications, ensuring that participants leave with experiences they can apply immediately in their practices.

Extra group learning exchanges.

Despite our promotions there is still a low number of new students signing up for classes a CATA this year. As you know, we still run them regardless, switching to the Union Square studio for 1 or 2 student sign-ups. I will continue to send emails like the ones that you have received about "Thai massage (review)" and "Abdominal Thai" because I want to fill in the Tuesdays when the CATA classroom is not available with small group classes in Union Square. So far, we have been quite successful in finding new things and learning the old things better.

Save the link below or click "Studio Classes (https://book.squareup.com/classes/cbb97752-0628-4ade-ac4c-60f0b632a034/location/66KY2G5CSBJ6M/classes) " from the TEAM page on the website.

Other stuff that I wanted to mention

Cash Transactions
The 108 envelope is under the Rubÿtone Inc binder on the shelf above the filing cabinet. When anything goes in or or out, please make a memo on the sheet inside the envelope.

Air Conditioner
I have received a lot of Thai massage with the air conditioner running and if the thermostat is set any lower that 74 I need to be covered up. At least on the feet.

When the AC starts and stops while you are working, that's the best! Right about when they are getting cold, it shuts off and they warm up again. This also makes it hard to remember to turn it off when you are done working if it happens to be not running. Please unplug the AC before you lock up.

Observations:

It is likely that your client will shiver after about 30 minutes even at 74 degrees.

Look for socks on top of the cabinet behind the curtain if you need to crank the AC to keep yourself from sweating excessively.
Or
Use a towel or a t-shirt or Pha Ko Ma to cover the feet BEFORE the client gets cold and asks you to turn the AC off.
Try to find what works for you based off of these experiences to make a successful session for your clients.

GIF Tool
We are reviving the GIF tool (https://thaimassage-nyc.com/gif-tool-home-page) on the website. It's an ongoing project in which we will continue to make it more navigation friendly and then add to the content after all of the pages are converted to the new format. Some of the buttons may not linked yet and the landing pages are not finished yet but you can Try it out now, and give us feedback, especially if you have an ipad.
