Therapeutic recreation experts know how special it is when a non-verbal resident says a few words during and after an activity—such as art, music, drama or soul therapy, a special spa treatment such as a mani, or fun games that take them back to their younger years.

And when those brief, extra meaningful and heartwarming moments happen, our rec team is floating on cloud 9… and ready to break the news during interdisciplinary team meetings.

If you’ve gotta head outside, don’t rush! Many sidewalks are still a slip‑n‑slide, especially for older adults and anyone using a wheelchair, walker, cane or pushing a stroller.

If you’ve been indoors for the past 2 days, are craving an endorphin rush and have a shovel or dustpan, channel your inner snow‑day superhero. Help neighbors clear a four feet wide path on sidewalks, as well as remove snow from stoops and around hydrants. This will make it easier and safer for passersby, especially older adults and first responders, to get where they need to go. A few minutes of your time can help New Yorkers stay upright! ❄️😊

We’re not playing! Snow removal on a 10-acre campus takes a lot of planning, coordination and preparation. So yes, we were ready when the first flakes began to fall yesterday and we’re still out there now, keeping pace with Mother Nature and matching her blizzard bomb cyclone energy (with our shovels and plows) to help keep our community safe.

Oh hay! Our memory care residents Mr. Alfredo and Mr. Yvan are having a galloping good time creating horse themed arts and crafts inspired by the year of the horse (Lunar New Year)! 🐎🧧

Art therapy is an important part of our memory care programming because it helps residents with their concentration, mood, self-expression, fine motor skills and so much more.
