Illusions of value, rely upon others affirmations of ourselves to feel good about ourselves. This position is naturally going to be in flux because our value systems are different. Two problems, we rely on others and second issue for every positive affirmation we will likely have a negative one, this creates wobbly self-esteem. Risky business to depend on external factors to determine your sense of self worth.

Something is lost, living in a culture that is ruled by outmoded external values. A culture in which a woman’s worth is placed in beauty and fertility and men in breadwinning and stoicism. While many enter the Yoga journey via fitness hoping to extend their beauty or gain physical power and therefore relevance, we discover in this rich tradition something that goes far deeper than the surface. It’s in that space that our experience of self and others becomes enriched.

The physical practice is one part of this Yoga experience. We use the system to clear our bodies of past trauma, toxins, and waste, we create a fluid form and supple spine to move through the world with grace and ease. These have value to us as they allow us to be more present without pain. The journey doesn’t stop there. For me it began there

nder is cultivated through curiosity. Wonder softens the sharp intellect of pitta dosha. [When pitta is out of balance it’s intellect can become myopic and judgemental, this tendency creates blindspots in the form of preconceived notions. Believing that one knows it all and has been here before, limits the fullness of life’s offerings. Curiosity is the antidote as it encourages inquisition and wonder. This is often referred to as the beginner's mind. Though not all beginners are open and curious. Many times we hold expectations of immediate achievement or understanding, instead of continuing to ask the right questions to gain clarity and right perspective. Wonder is an active emotion, meaning it propels us forward; which means, it has a rajasic (active/fire) quality, rajas that is] tempered by the quality of lightness, when we remain open to the world.
