Today, on National , we recognize the physicians who care for individuals with , not just for their expertise, but for their commitment to seeing the whole person.

Cerebral palsy is lifelong, complex, and deeply individual. The doctors who serve this community understand that care doesn’t end with a single visit or treatment plan. It means listening closely, adapting over time, and working across disciplines to support mobility, independence, and quality of life at every stage.

From early diagnosis to adulthood, from guiding families to empowering patients, your work is both highly specialized and profoundly human.

Thank you for your persistence, your collaboration, and your belief that better outcomes are always possible.

Thank you! 💪💪💪

National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day Turns 20 Today!

National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day was established in 2006 by Reaching for the Stars (RFTS), a parent-led advocacy group. Families recognized that , despite being the most common motor disability in childhood, did not have the level of public attention or research focus it deserved. They decided to change that.

The founders chose March 25 as the date and selected green as the awareness color. Green became a symbol of visibility, community, and advocacy, and later helped power the campaign.

As the movement grew, the U.S. Senate formally recognized March 25 in resolutions in 2011, helping bring national attention to the cerebral palsy community. From there, schools, organizations, families, advocates, and public spaces joined in through education campaigns and green-themed events.

National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day was created not just to “raise awareness,” but to push for real change: more research, better healthcare, earlier diagnosis, stronger services, and more inclusion across the lifespan. The message has always been bigger than visibility alone.

We need your help today and every day to push forward awareness and advocacy for CP

March 25 is National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day in the United States. In 2026, we mark the 20th anniversary of this observance, which was established in 2006 by families from Reaching for the Stars to bring greater attention to cerebral palsy.

Green was chosen as the color to represent the day to reflect youthfulness and growth, and to continue the tradition of wearing green in March for. St. Patrick' Day.

National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day was created not just to “raise awareness,” but to push for real change: more research, better healthcare, earlier diagnosis, stronger services, and more inclusion across the lifespan. The message has always been bigger than visibility alone.

As the movement grew, the U.S. Senate formally recognized March 25 in resolutions including 2011, helping bring national attention to the cerebral palsy community. From there, schools, organizations, families, advocates, and public spaces joined in through education campaigns and green-themed events.

In 2026, National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day marks 20 years since it was established. The anniversary is a moment to celebrate advocates, families, and people with CP who pushed this movement forward, but also to keep demanding progress. Awareness matters. Inclusion matters. Research matters. Access matters.

Today, we honor that history and continue the work.
