Most serious athletes are aware that healthy nutritional habits should be a part of the bedrock of any complete exercise plan. Training well must be balanced by eating well, or the athlete could be missing out on the maximum physical and mental benefits that optimal fitness levels can bring about.

On all levels of sports, consistent and varied efforts are made to reduce the incidence of injuries. Warm-ups and group stretching routines are commonplace on most sports teams, while some organizations taking it a step further by implementing targeted injury-prevention programs specific to that spo...

As unfortunate as it is true, injuries and sports go hand in hand. An average of 8.6 million injuries in sports and recreational activities occur each year, which equates to about 34 injuries for every 1,000 individuals that participate. While some minor injuries might only lead to a short gap in pa...

After hip pain develops, movement can become a taxing affair. Standing up from a chair, getting into a car, and walking even short distances may be met with intense strain and discomfort. As a result, some individuals will become less active so as to avoid the pain that comes with it, even though in...

BPPV Self Treatment: the Casani Maneuver for Lateral Canal Cupulolithiais BPPV

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) occurs when otoconia become displaced into one, or more, semicircular canals. Due to the posterior canal’s position with respect to gravity, it is the most typical canal for the debris to settle into, but the horizantal "lateral" canal may also be affected.

The Casani maneuver is used to treat the cupulolithiasis variant of horizantal canal "lateral canal" BPPV.

The hip is a resilient joint that is capable of handling lots of activity and repeated movements, and it can sustain a significant amount of wear and tear. This durability exists because of its complex and multifaceted anatomy that we described in our last newsletter.

NEW VIDEO ALERT: There are several variants of BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) which may occur spontaneously. They are caused by migration of debris called "otoconia" into one of three semicircular canals in your inner ear. The posterior canal is most commonly affected, but the Lateral canal is the most common atypical variant, accounting for about 3-12 percent of cases.

This is a treatment for free floating lateral canal BPPV. The nystagmus pattern that would be observed in lateral canal canalithiasis BPPV is geotropic in both the left and right roll position.

Our Story

Our Story:

We believe PT should be different. Declining reimbursement rates are driving PT practices to become high volume mills where focused clinical care is replaced by rushed service and divided attention. EQPT is a boutique PT setting where the art and atmosphere of healing is not compromised by overbooking.

Our Model of Care:

Equilibrium Physical Therapy is founded on our passion for individualized care and attention. We never overbook, we have private treatment rooms reserved for every visit, and we practice one on one for the entire physical therapy session!
