ICP's Trauma Studies Program offers advanced training in the understanding and treatment of psychological trauma, grounded in contemporary clinical practice and informed by developments in neuroscience.

Since 2004, the program has woven together theory, supervision, group case consultation, and practicum experience into a training designed to support clinicians at every stage of their journey toward specialized trauma work.

Registration is Now Open: Uncanny Communication: When Unspoken Minds Touch

Please join the Society for the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy (SICP) for an In-Person Lecture on Friday, May 1st from 7pm-9pm at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy.

"What happens when the psychic boundary presumed to separate analyst and patient is breached by telepathic transmission? Drawing on clinical material, de Peyer proposes a shift from assumptions of psychic separation to non-sensory, field-based communication that challenges prevailing analytic epistemologies. Through two contrasting cases of unbidden telepathic transmission, she explores both the dilemmas and generative potential of uncanny phenomena—such as telepathic dreams—situating them within a relational, two-person field. She suggests that moments of uncanny attunement, when met with openness and tolerance of uncertainty, can serve as portals to previously unavailable clinical material."

🍷Refreshments will be served.
🗣 Conversation at 9 pm following the lecture.
Approved for 2 NYS CE Credits!

Is your client’s progress getting "locked" in place by family dynamics? 🏠🔒

We’ve all been there: You provide evidence-based care in session, but the progress stalls once the client returns to their home environment. To truly sustain recovery, we have to move beyond the individual and address the relational biology of the family.

Join Maria Gambino, LMHC for an essential workshop: Family as Medicine: Conscious Parenting and Nervous System Support in Eating Disorder Recovery.
We’ll dive deep into:

🟢Identifying Nervous System Signatures: Why some family patterns unintentionally keep ED symptoms active.
🟢The Regulation Gap: How parental misattunement impacts neurobiological safety.
🟢Developmental Repair: Transforming caregivers from "anxious observers" into a "stabilizing force."

📅 Date: Friday, May 1, 2026 🕛 Time: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM EDT 💻 Format: Virtual on Zoom 🎓 CEs: 2 NYS CE Credits

Registration is now open!

A meaningful evening at ICP 🌿

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Advanced Clinical Training Programs Open House last week.

It was a full and energizing evening spent connecting with clinicians at different stages of their journey, all asking thoughtful questions about where their clinical work can grow next.

From the candidate and graduate panel to the informal conversations at program tables, the night reflected what makes ICP so special: a community grounded in curiosity, depth, and genuine exchange.

If you couldn’t make it but are still exploring advanced training, we would love to stay in touch.

Navigating the GLP-1RA Boom: What Clinicians Need to Know. 🧠✨
The rise of GLP-1RAs (like Ozempic and Wegovy) has created a supply chain crisis, a media frenzy, and - for many of our clients - an intense new pressure to lose weight.
As providers, how do we stay grounded in body-neutral, weight-stigma-informed care when the marketplace is moving in the opposite direction?

Presenter Melainie Rogers (Founder of BALANCE eating disorder treatment center™) will help us explore:

✅ The history of the HAES movement vs. the current "whiplash."
✅ The impact of high-profile celebrity and athlete endorsements.
✅ Strategies for maintaining a HAES-informed practice today.
Pricing: $20-$85

👉 Where Your Work with Trauma Deepens

Applications are open for ICP's Trauma Studies Center.

ICP's Trauma Studies Program supports the candidates through the transformational process of becoming a Trauma Therapist. ICP offers a foundational understanding of what trauma is, how to recognize it, how to sit with it in the room and how to know which tools to use when. The most common reason why tools do not always work is because they are missing the foundation of trauma education that ICP provides.

Individual supervision at ICP's Trauma Studies Program is highly personalized and unfolds like a case study. Theory informs the work, but clinical depth remains the priority. Two clients, one supervisor, week after week, with supervisors that are literally handpicked for their expertise.

Our tailored supports are designed to provide the professional and personal guides so the material learned becomes part of one's professional and personal identities. We are built to be the stepping stone for alumni as they reach their next states of their career. This includes opportunities to begin supervising, or running a group, presenting or teaching a topic with specific expertise, or joining the policy forming committee.

Since 2004, ICP's Trauma Studies Center has trained clinicians in the theory and treatment of psychological trauma, making it the first NYC psychotherapy training institute to offer comprehensive trauma training and the most clinically focused certificate program in the metropolitan area.

Our faculty are seasoned practitioners skilled in a range of trauma processing methods, all in active clinical practice. This two-year program combines coursework, group case consultation, and individual supervision to help mental health professionals develop an integrated understanding of trauma, and the practical clinical skills to treat traumatized clients effectively.

If you are ready to deepen your expertise in trauma treatment, we invite you to explore and apply!

Application deadline: Friday, May 29, 2026.

Apply by April 27th and pay no application fee!

👉 Where Your Work with Couples and Families Deepens

Applications are open for ICP’s Family and Couples Treatment Services (FACTS) Program.

Since 1982, FACTS has trained clinicians to work with families and couples through an empathic, relational lens, integrating approaches such as EFT, IFS, Gottman, narrative, trauma-informed treatment, motivational interviewing, and more.

This two-year program combines theory, supervised clinical work, and experiential learning to help mental health professionals deepen their skills and expand their impact.

If you are ready to grow your work with couples and families, we invite you to explore and apply!

👉 Where Your Interest in S*xual Health Becomes Clinical Mastery

Applications are open for ICP's S*x Therapy Certificate Program (STP).

S*xual health is one of the fastest-growing areas of clinical need, yet there remains a significant gap between talking about s*x and having a rigorous, supervised framework to treat complex s*xual dysfunctions, desire discrepancies, and erotic identity. ICP's STP is designed to close that gap.

Our program integrates psychodynamic, relational, and CBT perspectives, aims to provide participants with a minimum of three s*x therapy cases from ICP's sliding-scale clinic, accompanied by weekly group supervision.

The program is 100% virtual, bringing ICP's relational training culture across the country as long as you are licensed to practice in New York State.

If you are ready to move from focused interest to recognized specialty, we invite you to explore and apply for the 2026–2027 academic year.

NEW application deadline: May 15th ⏰

Save the Date: Working with No S*x Couples with Suzanne Iasenza 🧠✨
We are thrilled to announce the return of our annual four-week intensive with Suzanne Iasenza, a leading voice in human s*xuality and winner of the 2024 Exceptional Merit Award from the Society for S*x Therapy and Research.

Clinicians often struggle with how to open up "potential space" for transformation in long-term, no-s*x dynamics. This series offers a deep dive into the nuances of s*xual orientation, gender identity, and relational psychotherapy to help you guide couples through these complex transitions.
