Somatic Psychotherapy

Somatic Psychotherapy The body is the place from where we feel, define and contain life experiences as they happen.

Sometimes words are not enough to express one's true experience of emotions. While the mind is too busy, it clouds true experience and leads us into doing what we think we "should" be doing. When attending to your body's experience, you will discover more about yourself and what you really need in life, and begin to live from an authentic, and richer place in which you truly reside.

Marketing for psychotherapy has become unrecognizable. First, there was an influx of new methods targeting clients and psychotherapists who feel the need to add another method to their practice so they can feel "good enough."

But it has gotten even worse. Now I see a barage of ads for therapists to "grow their practice," offered by other therapists (who...have free time to make these platforms, so is their practice thriving?). The target is shifting from clients, to clients and therapists, and now...therapists are marketing to other therapists.

I'm baffled as to what has happened to the dignity of psychotherapists and the intergrity of psychotherapy practice. What is happening to our intrinsic value as professionals?

Does anybody else feel this way?

Your inner child is patiently waiting for you.

Most people go to therapy to fix themselves: some people go to therapy to discover a new way of living in the world that brings forth their aliveness. I'm interested in working with folks who seek the latter.

If you go to therapy to "get rid of bad feelings" you are wasting your time. Good therapy stems from learning to understand those feelings and develop self-compassion. This process allows you to grow your emotional container which will increase your empathy, resilience, and self-awareness.

After that, the "bad feelings" become a source of information, rather than something to get rid of.
