Hi Everyone! I never do things like this and hesitated to even put this on social media because of the fires in Los Angeles, but I was wondering if you would vote for Simba? There is an option where you can vote for free! The contest is only open until 9pm Pacifc time and 12 midnight tonight ETS time. It would be so amazing if we won! He’s such a fabulous cat. Thank you so much for taking the time to vote! (And please, no money. That should be donated to LA fire relief). 💜🐱

Simba is spunky, funny, confident, kind and he always knows when I’m sick or sad and gives me cuddles. He loves to chase his rainbow string!

You can slow down. The answers to your magical life are inside of you.

To listen, go to my LInkTree above (the one titled Rachel Bennett Mindfulness).

I sing and then briefly talk about the power of moving more slowly.

I offer it to anyone who is feeling overwhelmed, tired, stressed or dysregulated.

Listen to this when you need a reset.

You Can Slow Down lyrics written by Davis LImbach

We all wear different faces. This is survival. This is life. This is empathy. But, ultimately, a sane and compassionate life comes from looking at our thoughts, rather than identifying as them. This is called meditation.

However, for those of us who have endured trauma, it is hard to sit still. It can feel unsafe. It can actually feel impossible. Many of us who have endured and survived trauma, learned coping mechanisms to survive. For me, one of mine was to stay busy. I had no financial support from my parents from age 20. They both became ill, and to a large extent, their survival, especially my mother's, depended on me. So I developed the strategy to keep running. Never stop. Never let my fears catch up with me. Hustle. Lest it all come crashing down around me.

But, I have hustled for too long. Something has started to happen to me. I can't move fast. My body has become a rebel. She is proclaiming loud to me: I WILL NOT RUN ANYMORE FOR YOU. I AM RUNNED OUT. I MUST LIVE A DIFFERENT WAY. I PROTEST YOUR SPEED. I WILL ONLY CARRY YOUR SOUL IN THIS LIFETIME IF YOU SLOW DOWN AND HONOR ME. I WILL MAKE A PACT TO LOVE AND HOLD YOU, BUT ONLY IF YOU CARE FOR ME AND SLOW DOWN.

And so. I am teaching yoga in a different way. This has not been planned. It has been an organic process that has been won through living. Life transformed me.

I am now teaching primarily from my home studio on the UWS and on Zoom and I would love to work with you. (Link in my Bio above).

I teach yoga flow, but I will also teach you to regulate your vagus nerve and stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system with many tools I have used in my own healing practice, including humming, chanting, shaking, bilateral tapping, swaying, rocking, and eye exercises that actually help bring more blood flow to your neck and occipital which will make you feel safer in the world.

We were born at a great time in the world. Techniques are being given to us by doctors and scientists who are studying brain waves. It's exciting! I would love to support you in your healing and in any personal body/fitness goals you have.

Currently, I am offering a new class on Zoom only called "Therapeutic Yoga Session" where I give you breathing exercises, a personal mudra for what you want to receive or let go, a mantra and teach you a brief meditation. It's 30 minutes for $45. Never leave your house and learn powerful techniques that will regulate your nervous system.

Carl Jung says, "The greatest and most important problems of life are all fundamentally insoluble. They can never be solved but only outgrown." As we outgrow them, we deserve support. I am here to support you.

You can book through my website on the "Book with Me" page found on my FB Bio.

“Your life is your life

don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.

be on the watch.

there are ways out.

there is light somewhere.

it may not be much light but

it beats the darkness.

be on the watch.

the gods will offer you chances.

know them.

take them.

you can’t beat death but

you can beat death in life, sometimes.

and the more often you learn to do it,

the more light there will be.

your life is your life.

know it while you have it.

you are marvelous

the gods wait to delight

in you.”

-Charles Bukowski

“There is light somewhere,” Bukowski says. I say there is light everywhere. We need only to slow down and remember that we are, in fact, the ones we have been waiting for.

An email from a new student, Biana, after she took my Zoom yoga class:

“I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for such a beautiful yoga class! From the start, I was captivated by your soothing energy. You, my dear, are truly a magical gift! A spiritual healer. A warrior and a goddess. I cried, I laughed. I felt so many things in the best way possible and a moment of amazement was the next morning when I woke up. I haven’t felt that calmness and kind of breathing in so many moons. I seriously can’t remember the last time I felt “ok” with being in the moment. I felt your love through Zoom and I am just overwhelmed with gratitude that you are having these classes. I’m so happy Elizabeth told me you were doing this! Honestly. That was, hands down, the greatest yoga class I have ever experienced. I mean it.”

It is a gift to behold this email because it represents what yoga is all about: We receive what we give.

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” - Rumi

Yoga is where you find who you really are. You don’t need to become, acquire, learn, change or add. In fact, it’s the opposite. You need only to let go and then you find what Glenda told Dorothy on the Yellow Brick Road: “You had the power all along my dear.”

“Everything arises through imagination, or lack of it. When we imagine and put our prana, our life force, behind that imagination, that thought, it materializes in a form that has ease and lacks confusion.” -Sharon Gannon

When you imagine, you start to change your destiny. When you imagine, with breath and ease and clarity found though yoga, you start to create your destiny.

I'm also a ballet dancer, and study professional ballet with world-famous Nancy Bielski (teacher at American Ballet Theatre) in her dance class at Steps, in Manhattan. I have danced in many ballets in New York City and performed in Japan. The alignment of ballet affects the way I teach yoga.
