Starting over doesn’t require a different version of you or a different set of circumstances.

You can begin from exactly where you are, with what you know, what you feel, and what you have available right now.🪴

Change often becomes possible not when everything is ready, but when you decide to take the first step from here.

Progress is rarely a straight line. It can move forward, pause, shift, or even feel like it’s circling back at times.

Uneven progress doesn’t mean something isn’t working, it often reflects the reality of change as it unfolds over time.

What matters is the overall direction, not perfection in every step along the way.

Ever catch yourself thinking, “If I can’t do it perfectly, why bother at all?”

That’s all-or-nothing thinking, a common cognitive distortion that tricks us into believing anything less than perfection doesn’t count.

But real motivation doesn’t work that way.

It’s not all or nothing.
It’s ebb and flow.
Pause and try again.

Sometimes it looks like a small step, and sometimes that’s all you need to keep going.

💛 Small actions are progress.
💛 Showing up imperfectly still matters.
💛 You don’t have to do it all to be doing enough.

You’re not failing. This is just hard.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to name something that often gets missed. Progress doesn’t always look productive. Sometimes it looks like resting, asking for help, or simply getting through the day.

If this season feels heavy, let that be the truth, not a judgment of your worth.💙

It’s easy to believe that our past decides everything.

But the ways we adapt, cope, and respond are not set in stone. They make sense in context, and they can also shift over time.

Becoming something different doesn’t mean rejecting what’s happened. It means building from it with awareness, support, and intention.

Sometimes it shows up in the body first.

Tension in your shoulders. Trouble sleeping. Headaches that don’t seem to have a clear cause. A constant sense of restlessness or fatigue.

These aren’t random. They can be signals.

Not something to ignore, and not something to judge. Just something to notice.

Stress Awareness Month is a reminder to slow down enough to listen to what your body might be trying to say.

We’re big fans of anything that helps you exhale.

Because when your nervous system softens, everything else becomes a little more possible including clarity, connection, and change.💙

The scientific evidence is clear - our words matter.

They can open doors to change and expand our perspectives or set up barriers and roadblocks to understanding.

That's why we use language that reduces stigma and keeps the doors open to change.

When people think about ADHD medication, they often think it “fixes” attention.🧠

But what it often supports is something deeper.

Executive functioning, the ability to start, organize, follow through, and regulate in the moment.

Medication can make these processes more accessible. But it doesn’t build the skills on its own.

Understanding how your brain works is just as important as any tool used to support it.

If you want to better understand executive functioning and how it shapes daily life, explore our website here: motivationandchange.com/executive-functioning-difficulties/
