Once upon a time people white people would get Voodoo gris gris, charms, etc at their apothecary since it was not socially acceptable to be involved with Voodoo Practitioners. These original love spell jars are in the Pharmacy museum in New Orleans, so you could pick up something for your headache and your love life.

LAFAYETTE CEMETERY NO. 1​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
In New Orleans people are buried in crypts because the water table underground is too high, and before they understood that the dead were rising when the water would rise. So they began burying their dead in crypts and the high temperatures inside the crypt with the Louisiana heat would act like a crematorium. The ashes would then be swept by a family member to the back of the crypt where a shaft was built for this purpose and the crypt was ready for the next family member.
