Minimally Invasive Bunion Surgery. Traditionally bunion surgery required a big incision spanning the great toe joint which leaves big post surgical scar and often limits the big toe joint movement. Minimally invasive bunion surgery enables faster recovery from leaving little to no scar and preserving the joint range of motion. The construct of the screw fixation is strong and stable that patients can get back to their feet right away in hard sole shoe with little to no pain.
Operating room time: 45 min
🔹Day 1: Walk out the same day of surgery in a special surgical shoe
🔹2 WEEKS: Begin range of motion exercises and physical therapy; may start driving
🔹4 WEEKS: Transition to wearing sneakers; continue physical therapy
🔹6 WEEKS: swimming and speed walking. gradually increase activity level
🔹8 WEEKS: Start light jogging as a transition to running; continue physical therapy as needed
🔹3 MONTHS: No restrictions; resume full running schedule

Grateful to share that I’ve started a new chapter at Massachusetts General Hospital, joining the Foot & Ankle Service in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

It’s a true privilege to be part of such a historic institution, and I’m thankful for all the mentors, colleagues, friends, and family who’ve supported me along the way.

Looking forward to learning, growing, and doing my best to care for the patients and community here in Boston.
