Our response to the vaginal mesh article in the New York Times.
The real tragedy of the fear instilled by the vaginal mesh litigation is that many women with significant urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse are opting out of the treatment that they need. Instead, they are choosing to live in diapers out of a concern for what they read on line regarding the complications of vaginal mesh surgery. In the hands of an experienced pelvic surgeon, mesh can be, and is, used safely and effectively in the treatment of urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. At Total Urology Care, we strive to offer our patients the safest, most efficacious, and least invasive options for the treatment of their urinary conditions.
